BAREL-KARAKABA TRAVELLING EXHIBITION IN EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY

S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted a large-scale exhibition “Berel-Karakaba”organised by the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Foundation “Berel”. For the students of East Kazakhstan University to the visiting exhibition were brought archaeological artefacts from the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Foundation “Berel”, characteristic of the IV-V centuries.

-The purpose of the exhibition, dedicated to the Day of the Republic, is to popularise the culture of ancient tribes that inhabited the Kazakh land. All interested students of the Higher School got acquainted with the exhibition, and the visualisation of exhibits from the book gave an overview of the pages of history,’ said Nazym Amanzholova, head of the university museum.

The Katon-Karagai region is full of historical monuments. It is a sacred place where many aristocrats are buried because of the favourable climate and picturesque nature.

– We gave the students of East Kazakhstan University an opportunity to make an inventory of our history and visually see the exhibits reflecting the culture of ancient nomads by holding a travelling exhibition and increase interest in our history,’ said Azat Mukhtarhanov, head of the excursion department of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Foundation “Berel”.

The exhibition displayed well-preserved iron horse mouthpieces that have not undergone oxidation, boar and pig tusks that were worn on a horse’s chest as jewellery. These items are plated with fine gold. A bronze mirror with a leopard-shaped handle, decorated with an image of a human head and a deer. There is a fact that these items were attached to clothes and soles of boots. Necklaces, bracelets from the grave of a woman made of natural blue and white stone attracted the attention of the visitors of the exhibition.

The students expressed their gratitude to the organisers of the exhibition. Seeing with their own eyes the objects found in the burial ground “Berel”, made in the style of aristocrats and Scytho-Siberian animals, further increased their interest in the study of history.
