INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF EP “DEFECTOLOGY”
Amanzholov University hosted an international scientific-practical conference “The Value of Diversity: in Education and in Society”, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology”. The conference included face-to-face and online sessions.
The moderator of the event was Svetlana Stelmakh – Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.
In his welcoming speech Rector of East Kazakhstan University Mukhtar Tolegen emphasized the importance of the program of defectology in the educational system of Kazakhstan.
-For 20 years we have been graduating professional, certified defectologists, who annually replenish the country’s talent pool and transform the inclusive environment. This is a great contribution of our university, – noted the rector.
Also, the Director of the branch of ‘’Orleu‘’ of EKR Gaukhar Zhumanova made a welcoming speech and presented Mukhtar Adilbekovich with a letter of gratitude.

Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is actively engaged in the development of inclusive education and provides equal opportunities for every child, providing an individual approach and assistance in discovering talents. The innovative educational platform “Dana Bala”, which helps train teachers in modern methods and provides access to the latest laboratories has a positive impact on pedagogical practice,” said Gaukhar Zhumanova.
During the conference in an online format, presentations were made by education specialists from Russia, Germany, the United States, North and East Kazakhstan.
Representative of the East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Development of Education “Örken” Ardak Kubentayeva in her report “Current trends in the development of inclusive education in East Kazakhstan” told about the current state of educational infrastructure, noting the proper equipment of schools and kindergartens with the necessary tools.
Director of “St. Petersburg Institute of Early Intervention”, clinical psychologist Larisa Samarina presented new approaches to early intervention for children and their families. According to her, modern early help is focused on the application of scientific knowledge and technologies for effective support of special children.
It should be noted that during the conference its participants exchanged experience, discussed current problems and prospects for the development of inclusive education in Kazakhstan. The international event contributed to strengthening cooperation between educational institutions, scientific institutions and educational organizations.
