SPARTAKIADE-2025: “TOGYZKUMALAK – THE OUTLET OF EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY”

This year’s University Sports Games began with the Kazakh national game “Togyzkumalak”. Ten teams of participants charged for victory met in a game aimed at developing logic, analysis and wit. According to the conditions, a team must have two people – male and female representatives. Sarsenkhankyzy T. acted as a responsible judge.

For several hours the inquisitive minds of the university played on a special board with two rows of small holes and two base holes, which are called “cauldron”. By the way, the player’s “cauldron” is closer to the opponent’s side. At the beginning of the game there were 162 stones in the holes, but their gradual increase in one of the players meant one thing – victory.

It is noteworthy that togyzkumalak for faculty and staff of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is not just a leisure activity or a tool to win in the field day. It was the Kazakh scientist and linguist Sarsen Amanzholov who in 1936 for the first time described in literature the rules and conditions of the game togyzkumalak.

-To this day it is not only a great pride, but also a considerable responsibility for the whole team. Togyzkumalak is an outlet for East Kazakhstan University, – emphasized participant Aidyn Bazarkanov.

According to the results of the game, the third place was won by the specialists of Center of information and technical support and digitalization, the second place – by the participants of the Higher College. The championship went to the team of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences.

It should be noted that the Spartakiade has become a traditional winter event in East Kazakhstan University, which effectively develops the culture of a healthy lifestyle among employees and students.
