WOMEN IN SCIENCE: A NEW LOOK AT GENDER EQUALITY IN EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University actively supports gender equality and creates all conditions for the development of women in the research sphere within the framework of the fifth UN Sustainable Development Goal. One of the brightest examples is the activity of the research center “Surface Engineering and Tribology”, where five talented female scientists work. These specialists are not only engaged in scientific work, but also actively participate in the development of advanced technologies in the field of materials science, surface engineering and tribology.

It is noteworthy that women play a key role in the realization of scientific projects of the university. Thus, in the research center “Surface Engineering and Tribology” out of 19 current scientific projects 13 are headed by women. This emphasizes their high level of qualification, leadership qualities and ability to conduct scientific research at the highest level. Their projects are aimed at developing innovative solutions that will improve the performance of materials and influence the development of industries such as mechanical engineering and energy.

The University believes that support of gender equality not only helps to improve the quality of science, but also gives an opportunity to each talented specialist, regardless of gender, to contribute to the development of science and technology.
East Kazakhstan University continues to keep up with global trends, actively implementing gender equality in the scientific sphere and creating opportunities for the realization of the potential of both women and men in the field of innovation and research.
