EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY BECAME A PARTICIPANT IN AN INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECT

S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University became a participant of the international research project supported by the Leibniz Foundation for 2024-2029 and implemented by the Institute of History and Culture of Eastern Europe under the leadership of the leading researcher, Professor Julia Herzberg.
The theme of the project is “Melting Mountains: society, environment and the vertical climate frontier of the Greater Altai Mountains (1950-2020)”. The aim is to investigate climate change in Altai from a socio-humanitarian perspective.

Joint activities between East Kazakhstan University and the Leipzig Institute of East European History and Culture are planned as part of the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, conducting lectures and seminars for students of East Kazakhstan University EP “Ecology”, “Biology”, “History”, “Religious Studies”, “International Relations”, organizing a summer school on East Kazakhstan region, conducting field studies of scientists, writing joint scientific papers.

In addition, East Kazakhstan University scientists together with German colleagues will conduct research on sustainable tourism in the Altai Mountains, as well as the impact of climate change on agriculture.
