DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: THE CONTRIBUTION OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

In 2015, the UN Summit adopted the Concept of Sustainable Development, which includes 17 goals aimed at addressing the global challenges of the 21st century and ensuring a decent standard of living for the world’s population. These goals, approved by 193 states and recorded in the UN resolution “Agenda 2030”, serve as a guideline for the development of national development strategies and programs.

One of the key goals is “Decent Work and Economic Growth” (SDG 8), which aims to promote stable, inclusive and sustainable economic development, full and productive employment, and decent working conditions for all. Economic development creates new opportunities for all segments of society, contributes to reducing inequalities and the sustainable use of natural resources. However, high unemployment, lack of jobs and unequal distribution of income remain a pressing challenge. According to the UN, about 2.2 billion people live below the poverty line, earning less than $2 a day. Between 2016 and 2030, about 470 million new jobs need to be created to meet the needs of the growing working-age population, equivalent to 30 million jobs annually.

Moreover, it is important not only to create jobs but also to improve working conditions for the 780 million people whose income remains insufficient for a decent life. The issue of equal access to employment opportunities for women and men is particularly relevant.
“Decent work” refers to the opportunity for everyone to find productive work that generates sufficient income, provides security at work and social protection for families, and offers better prospects for personal development and social inclusion. Equal employment opportunities contribute to poverty reduction, social well-being and sustainable economic development. This requires investing in quality education and training that will provide young people with relevant competencies and access to social guarantees.

Amanzholov University, guided by the principles of sustainable development, contributes to the training of highly qualified personnel that meet the requirements of the modern labor market. The University actively develops scientific and technical, innovative, environmental and socio-cultural projects that contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth of the country.
The main directions of the university’s work include training in-demand specialists ready for professional self-realization, development of academic mobility and international cooperation, introduction of innovative educational programs, creation of opportunities for student start-ups and entrepreneurship, as well as support for young researchers and their scientific developments. Thanks to these efforts, Amanzholov University not only shapes the new generation of professionals, but also contributes to the development of the economy of the region and the country, creating sustainable prospects for future generations.
