INCREASING MOTIVATION OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TO CONSERVE BIODIVERSITY OF AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS

Preservation of biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems is one of the urgent tasks of modern ecology. Despite being landlocked, Kazakhstan has numerous reservoirs, lakes and rivers that play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance. Rational use of aquatic bioresources, their reproduction and protection require training of qualified specialists with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In this context, the interaction of students with professionals in the field of fishery and ecology of aquatic ecosystems is of great importance.

In order to form environmental responsibility and deepen the professional competencies of students of educational programs “6B05101 – Biology” and “6B08301 – Forest Resources, Hunting and Beekeeping” the Department of Biology of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences of NPLC “S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University” organized a guest lecture on “Introduction and rational use of water resources”. As guest speakers were the head of LLP “Bukhtarma spawning and growing farm” Symbat Anuarbekov and head of complex fishery laboratory of Altai branch of LLP “Scientific and Production Center of Fisheries” Aibek Kasymkhanov.

The guest lecture addressed key issues related to the conservation and restoration of aquatic ecosystems. Specialists shared their practical experience on introduction, stocking and monitoring of water bodies, spoke about the importance of these processes and gave examples of successful projects on restoration of fish resources in Kazakhstan. Special attention was paid to the role of future specialists in the protection of aquatic bioresources, career prospects of students and opportunities for their participation in research activities.

During the event, the students not only gained valuable knowledge, but also had the opportunity to ask questions to the experts, which contributed to their involvement in the issues under discussion. Direct dialogue with practitioners helped students to realize the importance of their future profession and motivated them to actively participate in environmental initiatives.

The organization of such events is an important part of the educational process, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of current environmental issues, develop professional competencies and realize their role in the conservation of natural resources. The Department of Biology plans to continue cooperation with scientific and production centers of fisheries, involving students in research and environmental projects.

Holding such events is not only a contribution to the professional development of students, but also a step towards the formation of an environmentally responsible society.
