STUDENTS OF EP “PHYSICAL CULTURE AND SPORT” GOT ACQUAINTED WITH THE ART OF QUSBEGILIK

Students of EP “Physical Culture and Sports” went to the auyl Bozanbai to get acquainted with the ancient Kazakh art of hunting with golden eagle – kusbegilik. They were accompanied by Omirbek Zhumabekovich, a lecturer from the Department of Culture, Sports and Initial Military Training, who conducted an informative excursion.

The guest of the meeting was the famous berkutchi Najitban Marks, who devoted more than 30 years to the study and training of birds of prey. He started hunting with golden eagle at the age of 14 and since then he has been passing on his knowledge to future generations.

Kusbegilik is not only an ancient art, but also a part of the national identity of the Kazakh people. It is recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO and combines elements of sport, art and traditions. The students had a unique opportunity to see the skill of a real falconer and learn about the role of falconry in the culture of Kazakhstan.
