BATA BERU: HISTORY AND MEANING OF KAZAKH TRADITION DISCUSSED IN EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY

East Kazakhstan University continues activities within the framework of Nauryznama-2025. On the Day of Culture and National Traditions, the Department of History of Kazakhstan and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines organized a cultural and educational meeting of students with the imam of the city mosque Shoken Duisen, as well as a panel of venerable grandmothers.

The meeting of generations was dedicated to Bata beru – the most ancient tradition of Kazakhs, which implies kind and farewell wishes to the young from adults.

-One of the most ancient and important customs of the Kazakh people is “Bata beru” – blessing. “Bata” has always promoted the right development of society and faithful values. There is no doubt that blessings as a means of education of youth will be passed from generation to generation, – said the head of the department of history of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines Lazzat Zhamanbayeva.

According to her, first-year students took an active part in organizing the event. They prepared musical, dance numbers, theatrical performances “Arkan tartu”.

-Today we not only learned a lot of new information, but also enjoyed the concert program. We combined pleasant and useful. We thank the organizers for such an interesting program, – said student Akbota Pazylova.

At the end of the event, Anuza Zhumakanova, Chair of the College of Grandmothers, gave a blessing to the students, and the organizers invited guests and participants to auyz ashar.
