NATIONAL SPORTS DAY: INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GOT ACQUAINTED WITH KAZAKH CULTURE

S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University celebrated the National Sports Day within the framework of Nauryznama. Students from abroad, who arrived within the framework of the academic mobility program, took active part in the event.

The organizers represented by the specialists of the Department of Quality Assurance and International Cooperation surprised the foreigners with an instrumental piece – Kazakh kuyum, melodious songs and fiery dances.

In addition, during the cultural event the students were told about the deep meaning and history of the holiday, touching upon the importance of national games. After the presentation, the international students had the opportunity to personally immerse themselves in Kazakh culture by playing togyzkumalak, asyk atu and tug of war.

-Nauryz is a holiday of renewal and unity. Representatives of more than 130 nationalities live in Kazakhstan in friendship. And today students from Tajikistan and Korea take part in our holiday, which once again confirms that Nauryz under one shanyrak is one of the main values of our country, – said Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation of East Kazakhstan University Irina Rovnyakova.

At the end of the event the students were pleased with sweet treats.
