EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT BRINGS HOME SPARTAKIADE GOLD AND WORLD CUP SILVER MEDAL

Student of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University Zeynep Kumarkan returned to her homeland after numerous resounding victories. The girl won gold at the VI Winter Spartakiade of Kazakhstan in short track speed skating and silver at the World Cup in Canada. The athlete was met with honors by family, friends and teachers.

Let’s remind, from March 21 till March 23 in ice palace “Alau” VI winter Spartakiad took place. Zeynep Kumarkan, a 19-year-old student of the educational program “Physical Education and Sports” of East Kazakhstan University, won among women at a distance of 500 meters.

Earlier she demonstrated excellent results at the Asian Games in Harbin and at the World Cup in Canada, becoming a silver medalist. She was also named to the national short track team for the 2025 World Championships in March.

– This achievement will stimulate me to train more and improve my performance at other international starts,” the girl said.

It should be noted that Zeynep Kumarkan is a second-year student of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. She has been practicing short track since she was 9 years old. Today she trains in one of the ice modules of the regional center and is preparing to conquer new heights.
