THE FIRST COMMUNITY OF YOUNG VOLUNTEERS IN THE FIELD OF CYBER SECURITY WILL APPEAR IN UST-KAMENOGORSK
An innovative training course on digital security for students and teachers was developed by specialists of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University together with the East Kazakhstan Region Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office of the region. The unique collaboration is aimed at raising legal awareness and informing the population about cyber security.
-More than 20 thousand cases of Internet fraud are registered annually in the country. The total amount of funds returned to the injured Kazakhstani citizens in 2024 amounted to 1 billion 400 million tenge. In order to strengthen the fight against this problem, our course was introduced,” said Darhan Kamalkhanov, Head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of PD EKR.
-With the rapid development of technology and the increasing number of Internet threats, the creation of such a course will allow a more effective response to the challenges of our time. And it is especially important that it is the young generation that will take an active part in this initiative. Our students after taking the course will be able to become full-fledged digital volunteers who will be able to work with mature and elderly residents of the city and region, – said Irina Rovnyakova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Cooperation of East Kazakhstan University.
Nurai Arystanbek, a senior operative of the Department of Cybercrime Counteraction of the Department of Counteraction of Cybercrime of the Department of Cybercrime, will conduct weekly classes during the month. The course includes lectures, trainings and practical exercises. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certificates and will be able to call themselves full-fledged volunteer trainers in the field of digital security. It is noteworthy that the course can be attended by anyone regardless of their specialty.
The first session was held in the format of an open lecture. Speaker Nurai Arystanbek told students about the types of threats on the Internet. According to her, criminals are not slumbering, regularly introducing new methods of influence. Among the most popular are phishing or social engineering, AI attacks, spoofing and malware. The expert voiced basic recommendations for Internet users. These include constantly updating the operating system, installing a reliable anti-virus program and using complex combinations when creating passwords.
