TRAINING “FORMATION OF INCLUSIVE CULTURE IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION”
Arai Tenkebayeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy of East Kazakhstan University, developed professional development courses “Formation of inclusive culture”, which she presented during the past national press tour.
The unique author’s courses are an important step towards a multifaceted strategy for the development of inclusion in Kazakhstan. The training involves a month-long course – 72 hours of detailed and up-to-date information.
Upon completion of the course, teachers receive a whole layer of new knowledge. In particular, the theoretical and methodological foundations of inclusive education, its legal and regulatory framework, systemic approach according to the formula of D. Mitchell.
– The training consists of theory and practical tasks. Various exercises are offered to the trainees of the training. For example, “Conductor”, aimed at understanding the spatial orientation of people with visual disabilities. One participant blindfolds himself, and the other helps him to perform the necessary action, explaining the direction in words,” said Arai Tenkebayeva.
In addition, the course program includes the exercise “Flower Grower”, which is aimed at studying communicative difficulties of people with hearing and speech impairments. And also “Writing” for people with mobility impairments. Participants must write down their name and the name of their educational program using only the index finger and pinky finger of their left hand.
In addition, teachers who have taken advanced training courses will be able to draw up individual programs of psychological and pedagogical support for students with special needs and adapt the educational process.
It should be noted that university specialists regularly pay special attention to the formation of necessary conditions and effective support mechanisms for the successful implementation of the principles of inclusion in education.
