SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF KALIKHAN YSKAK

In the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University held a scientific-practical conference “Artistic world of Kalikhan Yskak’s work”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding writer, playwright, honored figure of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan and international literary prize “Alash”.

Rector of East Kazakhstan University Mukhtar Tolegen made a welcoming speech at the event, who noted the invaluable contribution of Kalikhan Yskak to Kazakh literature.

– Kalikhan Yskak elevated the Kazakh prose and created profound works that have been preserved in the culture for centuries. I am sure that today’s scientific-practical conference will be instructive and important for the young generation. Literary heritage of the writer should be popularized and studied from a scientific point of view, – said the rector.

The conference was also addressed by Alibek Kantarbayev, honorary professor of East Kazakhstan University writer, who shared his personal memories of Kalikhan Yskak and his creative path.

– This anniversary is a great joy for all connoisseurs of Kazakh literature. Kalikhan Yskak in each of his works deeply reflected the everyday life, worldview, values and traditions of the Kazakh people. I thank the management and staff of the university, which organized today’s event, – said the writer.

The teaching staff of the Department of Kazakh, Russian philology and journalism of East Kazakhstan University focused the attention of the conference participants on the stylistic and linguistic features of Kalikhan Yskak’s prose and drama. The lecturers presented reports devoted to the study of toponyms and geopoetic space in the author’s works.

– Kalikhan Yskak masterfully used the artistic possibilities of language in prose. He wrote in all genres and made an invaluable contribution to the comprehensive development of literature. He worked fruitfully in such genres as novella, novel, literary criticism and drama. His drama and translations require special attention,” said Aizhan Kartayeva, director of the Abaitanu Research Institute.
