EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY HOSTED INTERNATIONAL EVENTS DEDICATED TO INCLUSION
East Kazakhstan University held a discussion on the problem of psychological and pedagogical support of parents of children with special educational needs. N.B. Alimbekova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of East Kazakhstan University, and A.A. Dyachenko, Vice-Consul of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Ust-Kamenogorsk, made welcoming speeches to the participants.
In addition, the International scientific and methodological round table “Interaction with parents as a basis for psychological and pedagogical support of children with disabilities” was held on the basis of the university. The aim was to create a dialog platform for sharing experience and discussing effective forms of cooperation between parents, teachers and specialists to develop coordinated approaches to psychological and pedagogical support for children with special educational needs. Special attention was paid to the role of the parent community as an equal partner in the realization of inclusive education.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Partnership with Parents in the Context of Inclusive Education” was also held. The aim of the conference was to discuss modern approaches to the interaction between educational organizations and parents of children with special educational needs to create an effective inclusive educational environment, as well as to share experience in the implementation of successful practices of partnership in inclusive practice.
The events were organized by the Department of “Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy” and the Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education “Dana bala” with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The conference was attended by teachers of secondary schools, parents of children with disabilities, scientists, teachers of higher education institutions, specialists of inclusive education, students, representatives of the social community.
The guest speaker was Inna Orlova, Chairperson of the International Community of Mothers of Disabled Children “PRO_NEE”, member of the “Parents’ Platform” under the RF Presidential Ombudsman for Children’s Rights. She spoke about the opportunities for public participation and initiatives to support families raising children with disabilities.
The conference was also attended by A.V. Grebtsova, Deputy Minister of Education of the Moscow region, who devoted her speech to the experience of interaction with parents of children with disabilities and their involvement in the educational process in the Moscow region. S.N. Syurin, honorary worker of general education of the Russian Federation, director of the flagship remedial school and the central PMPC in Moscow, who spoke about the peculiarities of his school’s activities.
The problem of assessing a child’s special educational needs, which was discussed by R.T. Baichinov, director of the regional PMPC, and M.M. Davydova, a methodologist, was also discussed.
A route map for parents of children with special educational needs was presented by representatives of the Center for Support of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder “Asyl Miras” Dyusembinova D.A. and Tarasova V.M.
The experience of supporting families with children with disabilities in inclusive school conditions was revealed in her informative report by the deputy director of educational work of KSU “Secondary General Education School № 35” of Semey city.
Training from teacher-psychologists of KSU “Rehabilitation Center for Children with Special Educational Needs” Yusupova D.A. and Yesergepova D.A. helped all participants to feel the state of parental love and support.
The participants were particularly interested in the analysis of the survey of the parent community aimed at studying the peculiarities of interaction between educational organizations and parents of children with special educational needs. The results of the survey were presented by the scientists of East Kazakhstan University Kukina Y.E., Kanapianova K.D. and Alipova A.K..
The speakers of the breakout sessions touched upon the issues of national and international experience of interaction with parents of children with special educational needs and their involvement in the educational process, etc.
