INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE: AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY HOSTS COURSES ON SENSORY INTEGRATION AND NEUROPEDAGOGY

The visit of Polish specialists in the field of special education – Agnieszka and Robert Lemanski, who conduct intensive training courses for teachers and students of educational programs “Defectology”, “Special Pedagogy”, “Ergopedagogy”, “Early Intervention Pedagogy”, “Adaptive Physical Education” and “Preschool Education and Upbringing” took place in East Kazakhstan University named after Sarsen Amanzholov.

Agnieszka Lemanska is a speech therapist, sensory integration therapist, supervisor, and a graduate of the M. Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education. She is a graduate of the M. Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education and the University of Warsaw. Robert Lemanski is an educational therapist and specialist in remedial work with children with autism spectrum disorders.

On the first day the participants were introduced to the basics of sensory integration: they studied key sensory systems, stages of their development and possible disorders, and discussed the impact of sensory dysfunctions on learning, behavior and emotional state of the child.

On the second day, methods of clinical observation and initial assessment of sensory integration disorders were presented, as well as self-regulation strategies and ways to incorporate sensory practices into the daily work of educators and professionals.

In the upcoming lectures, specialists will focus on the diagnosis and therapy of such reflexes as the grasping reflex, the Moreau reflex, the ASTR, the TLR, and the Gallant reflex.
