EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WON 12 DEBATE TOURNAMENTS OVER THE YEAR

Students of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University in 2024-2025 academic year showed high results and won at regional and national debate tournaments. All the tournaments in which the representatives of the university took part, ended in victory for them.

Bakyt Bayandy, a first-year student of the educational program “Mathematics-Physics”, and Merhat Almasuly, a first-year student of the educational program “Food Technology”, took first place in six national, three regional and three city debate tournaments since the beginning of the academic year. Among them such as “PRESIDENT CUP V”, “Maslihat CUP”, “Jastar soilesin”, “Shygys CUP”, “Zhana Kazakhstan: zhasampaz el muraty”, “SEMEY OPEN – 2025” and other intellectual competitions, where they demonstrated the best game and took the upper hand.

– Debate is a special intellectual game that develops the outlook, eloquence and critical thinking skills. It is not just a competition, but a space for personal growth. I participate in debates not only to win, but also to gain new perspectives, true friends and a developing community,” said Bakyt Bayandy.

The debate topic is given only 15 minutes in advance, which develops the skill of making quick decisions and expressing your thoughts accurately. Merhat Almasuly also participates in the television debate show Azamat on Khabar Channel, where he demonstrates his erudition and knowledge.

– In recent years in the East Kazakhstan region, the debate movement is gaining special popularity. Young people continue the way of the older generation and take prizes at national tournaments. This has a great impact on the formation of thinking and leadership qualities in the younger generation,” he said.

Debates are not just an intellectual game. It is an effective tool for raising a new generation capable of deeply analyzing current issues of the country and the world, thinking critically, expressing their thoughts freely and competently.
