AN INNOVATIVE COURSE FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE “MOM’S HOME” FOUNDATION WAS LAUNCHED

“Ana Yiyi” Republican Public Charitable Foundation launched an innovative course on “Adverse Childhood Experiences and Psychological Trauma of a Child”. The goal of the course is to prevent child abandonment and reduce the number of children entering orphanages each year.

The program was developed by I.K. Matskevich, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy at Sarsen Amanzholov University East Kazakhstan, UNICEF UN Children’s Fund expert.

Within the framework of the course, more than 72 employees of the Foundation will be trained for three months, combining theory and practice. Participants will work to restore the psychological state of traumatized children by studying real cases, response strategies and practical situations.

The training is focused on the practical part of the training: there will be an electronic classroom-library, experience-based intervention sessions, and team case defenses. As a result of the course, an electronic teaching and learning resource will be created for Foundation staff and future specialists.

The course represents an important step towards improving the professional training of professionals working with children and aims to provide systemic support. In addition, it will contribute to the effective improvement of mechanisms for the prevention of child abandonment in Kazakhstan.
