IV ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF KAZAKH PHYSICAL SOCIETY: RECOGNIZED PHYSICISTS OF THE WORLD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

On the basis of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University the IV annual conference of the Kazakhstan Physical Society is held. This large-scale scientific event, which united leading scientists from all over the world, has become an important milestone not only in the history of the university, but also in demonstrating the scientific potential of the country. Within the framework of the conference, world-famous scientists made presentations, raising topical issues of modern fundamental and applied physics.

The three-day conference brought together leading physicists, researchers and representatives of scientific schools from Kazakhstan and foreign countries. The event became an international platform for dialog about the future of physics. The conference was attended by leading experts from the UK, Poland, Turkey, Malaysia and other countries. Among them Professor Siddharth S. Saxena of Cambridge University – one of the leaders in the field of research of quantum matter and spin states. Prof. Wojciech Wieleba from Wrocław University of Technology shared his research results in high-energy and nuclear physics, and Prof. Marcin Kot from the Stanisław Staszyc Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow presented the latest developments in nanophysics and condensed matter physics.

– I have previously conducted scientific research in Ust-Kamenogorsk, so it gives me a special joy to return to this city. East Kazakhstan is rich in natural resources, which in turn increases interest in materials research. I see this conference as the beginning of large-scale scientific cooperation and joint research. In the future, special attention will be paid to projects in the field of metallurgy and rare earth metals,” said Prof. Siddharth S. Saxena.

Dr. Muhammad Nurazlan bin Abd Aziz, a specialist in STEM education and physics teaching methodology from Sultan Idris University of Teacher Education (Malaysia), and Professor Ali Çoruh from Sakarya University (Turkey), who presented work in plasma physics and materials science, also shared their research. In addition, the participants of the international dialogue were scientists from Nazarbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakh National Research Technical University, National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan, Institute of Nuclear Physics and other leading scientific organizations of the country.

– This conference brings together physicists, young researchers, teachers and students. The basis of any modern technological progress is science, first of all physics. Therefore, the importance of the annual conference of the Kazakhstan Physical Society can hardly be overestimated. Especially in our time, when a new scientific and technological revolution is growing, such scientific platforms open great prospects, – emphasized the Rector of East Kazakhstan University Mukhtar Tolegen.

Within the framework of the conference, Chokan Laumulin, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Sustainable Energy of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, presented projects aimed at reducing energy losses in the future.

– Today mankind loses a significant part of produced energy during transportation. If we can develop superconducting materials and introduce them into widespread practice, we will achieve lossless energy transmission. Of course, this is not an easy task that requires considerable scientific research and time,” said Chokan Laumulin.

Laifa Bufendi, a researcher at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, also spoke at the conference, presenting a new technology to fight cancer and talking about the connection between Kazakhstani science and medicine.

– At present, we are paying special attention to nanotechnology and microtechnology. The main goal is to accurately determine the localization of malignant formation and direct treatment directly to the tumor without affecting other organs. We use the method of magnetic hyperthermia to affect the tumor point by point. This significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment,” said the scientist.

The conference program included plenary sessions, sectional reports, as well as presentations of scientific papers published in journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. The conference participants also visited Ulba Metallurgical Plant and Kazzinc, familiarizing themselves with joint scientific projects implemented by Amanzholov University and industrial enterprises.
