“7 DAYS WITHOUT PLASTIC: ECOLOGISTS OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY FOR A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT”

From January 24 to 30, 2026, third-year students of the “Ecology” educational program at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University took part in the mini-challenge “7 Days Without Plastic,” aimed at developing environmentally responsible behavior and reducing the use of single-use plastic products in everyday life.

During the week, participants consciously refused plastic bags, disposable tableware, and packaging, replacing them with reusable and environmentally friendly alternatives. Students recorded their eco-friendly habits, shared personal experiences, and discussed the challenges and benefits of living without plastic.

Participation in the mini-challenge became a practical continuation of the professional training of future ecologists and corresponded to the objectives of the national environmental agenda and the initiatives of the “Taza Kazakhstan” program. The event contributed to the development of environmental awareness, responsibility for the state of the environment, and understanding the importance of personal contribution to solving the problem of plastic pollution.

Such initiatives help to form sustainable environmental values and skills among students that are necessary for their future professional activities in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.
