LECTURERS OF EKU COMPLETED TRAINING IN MODERN METHODS OF WORKING WITH CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

As part of a joint project of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ybyrai Altynsarin National Academy of Education, and UNICEF for 2025–2026, a series of training sessions was organized to enhance the qualifications of specialists working with children with special educational needs (SEN).

Among the participants were Svetlana Stelmakh, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Special Pedagogy at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, and senior lecturer Rauan Baichinov, who both successfully upgraded their professional competencies.

During the training, the lecturers mastered modern strategies and tools of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) — an effective pedagogical approach aimed at developing communication skills in children experiencing difficulties in verbal interaction. The acquired knowledge has already begun to be integrated into the educational process and the scientific-methodological work of the department.

After completing the training, Professor Svetlana Stelmakh and senior lecturer Rauan Baichinov conducted seminars for teachers working in inclusive education settings. During these seminars, participants learned about key AAC concepts and methods, gained skills in effectively supporting children with communication challenges, and received practical training in applying modern approaches within an inclusive educational environment.

These activities enabled educators to deepen their knowledge in the field of augmentative and alternative communication. This will help improve the quality of the educational process and create more comfortable conditions for the learning and development of children with special educational needs.
