INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND SCIENCE: LECTURE BY PROFESSOR GUIDO AMORETTI

Students and faculty of the Department of Psychology and Special Education at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University had a unique opportunity to engage with modern scientific approaches in psychology during a lecture delivered by Professor Guido Amoretti from the University of Genoa (Italy).

The professor presented two key topics: “A deep dive into the essence of scientific psychology” — exploring which methods and techniques allow researchers to obtain reliable data on human behavior and mental processes, how scientific practice is structured, and what modern tools are used to test hypotheses; and “The role of ancient brain structures in shaping emotions” — the connection between cognitive and emotional processes and the influence of neurobiological mechanisms on human behavior.

The lecture clearly demonstrated how contemporary psychological research integrates neurobiology and psychology to achieve a deeper understanding of emotional experience.
Students learned that scientific psychology is a systematic, verifiable, and reproducible activity based on empirical data rather than subjective observations. In addition, the professor emphasized that ancient brain structures play a critical role in forming emotions and automatic reactions — an important aspect for specialists working in psychological support and counseling.

Guido Amoretti noted that the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical techniques is key to building effective models of psychological and pedagogical work.

The lecture was held as part of the cooperation program between Sarsen Amanzholov EKU and the University of Genoa. This partnership opens new opportunities for joint training seminars, master classes, student and faculty exchange, as well as the integration of advanced European research into the university’s educational process.

International lectures and seminars contribute to the development of scientific thinking, broaden professional horizons, and strengthen the educational community of East Kazakhstan within the context of global science.
