STRATEGIC GOALS AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF THE UNIVERSITY DISCUSSED AT THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL MEETING

At the regular meeting of the Academic Council of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the discussion began with consideration of the draft of the new Constitution and the upcoming referendum. Council members focused on the timeline, the procedure for participation, and the importance of keeping the university community well informed. It was noted that active participation of students and faculty in the vote reflects civic responsibility and an informed position.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Board – Rector Mukhtar Tolegen presented the university’s objectives for 2026, aligning them with national priorities in the field of science and higher education. The outcomes of the recent extended meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan were also highlighted, with the participation of Minister Sayasat Nurbek and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva. The meeting outlined key directions for the development of higher education and science, including digitalization, the introduction of modern technologies, the advancement of research infrastructure, and strengthening the competitiveness of domestic universities.

Further discussion was devoted to the analysis and monitoring of the activities of the Higher School of Humanities. Council members reviewed performance results, achievements of students and faculty, indicators of research activity, and the quality of academic programs. Priority areas for 2026 were identified, aimed at strengthening scientific potential and improving the educational process.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the results of the профильной commission were presented, along with recommendations to ensure the quality of education across all higher schools of the university. Issues related to student participation in research activities, their involvement in projects, conferences, and academic competitions, as well as measures to support young scientists and develop research skills, were also discussed. Special attention was given to career guidance and expanding professional opportunities for students and staff. All discussions were focused on forming concrete decisions for the strategic development of the university, enhancing academic quality, and strengthening its scientific and professional potential.
