HISTORICAL AND ECOLOGICAL EXCURSION FOR FUTURE ECOLOGISTS AT SARSEN AMANZHOLOV EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY

Students of the educational programs 6B05202 – “Ecology” and 6B05203 – “Hydroecology, Management and Transboundary Water Security” of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University visited the East Kazakhstan Regional Museum of History and Local Lore as part of an educational excursion.

The main purpose of the visit was to broaden students’ professional outlook, develop historical and ecological thinking, and explore environmental processes within a historical context.

During the excursion, students became acquainted with exhibitions dedicated to the natural heritage of East Kazakhstan, the evolution of the region’s landscapes, the formation and development of economic activities, and the impact of human activity on the environment across different historical periods. These sections generated particular interest among the participants.

In addition, archaeological materials were presented, reflecting the early stages of interaction between humans and nature in the territory of Kazakhstan. This content was directly connected to the lecture topic “Historical Stages of Interaction Between Nature and Society in Kazakhstan” and allowed students to integrate theoretical knowledge with concrete historical facts.

Throughout the excursion, discussions focused on the transformation of natural complexes, the development of irrigation systems, mining processes, and the formation of cultural landscapes. These topics contributed to a deeper understanding among future ecologists of the historical foundations of modern environmental challenges.

The event was attended by faculty members Zh.K. Zhaznayeva, A.O. Orsarinova, B.S. Daukenova, as well as active members of the “Zhasyl Tolqyn” Eco Club.

Such field-based learning activities enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, develop comprehensive thinking in the field of ecology, and enhance their professional competencies.
