A MASTER CLASS “ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE — THE CIVIC POSITION OF A FUTURE GEOGRAPHER” WAS HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

As part of the Methodological Decade of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the Department of Ecology and Geography organized a master class entitled “Environmental Culture — The Civic Position of a Future Geographer.”

Students of the educational program “Geography” took part in the event. The master class was conducted by Kamila Abzeleeva, a practitioner-lecturer of the department and a geography teacher at Secondary School No. 20 named after Akhmet Baitursynov.

The main objective of the master class was to emphasize the importance of developing environmental culture in the professional training of future geography teachers, as well as to discuss effective ways of integrating the principles of rational natural resource management and environmental protection into the educational process.

During the event, participants thoroughly examined the content of environmental education and methods for fostering environmental values in school geography lessons. Practical tasks and instructional approaches aimed at developing students’ responsible attitudes toward nature were also presented.

Participants engaged in group discussions, analyzed specific pedagogical situations, completed thematic educational tasks, and exchanged views. In the practical segment, interactive methods, as well as project-based and research-oriented environmental assignments used in school practice, were demonstrated.

The meeting also addressed issues of enhancing environmental responsibility among future educators, preserving the natural environment of their native region, and implementing sustainable development principles within the education system. The master class served as an effective platform for experience sharing and provided students with valuable methodological recommendations that they will be able to apply in their future professional activities.
