A REGIONAL CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD WAS HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

The Department of Chemistry of the Higher School of Information Technology and Natural Sciences at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, in collaboration with the Professional Upgrading Training Center, held a regional chemistry olympiad for 11th-grade students from city and regional schools.

The olympiad consisted of three stages. The first qualifying stage was conducted online, with test assignments completed using the Google Forms platform. As a result, 23 students from Kazakh-language classes and one student from a Russian-language class advanced to the next stage.

The theoretical and practical stages of the olympiad were held in person on March 5 at the university’s Department of Chemistry. Students from eight educational institutions, including city and regional schools, participated, solving theoretical problems and creative tasks, as well as performing experimental assignments aimed at identifying substances through qualitative reactions. The maximum score was 100.

At the opening of the olympiad, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Bakhyt Kalyaskarovna Sheikhova, wished the participants success, while the olympiad organizer, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Batima Smataevna Tantybaeva, presented the competition rules and evaluation criteria. The olympiad was conducted with the participation of compliance officer Kainar Zheksembaev.

Winners were determined by the jury. The grand prize was awarded to Amangeldy Nurly, an 11th-grade student of the K. Nurgaliyev School-Lyceum No. 43 in Ust-Kamenogorsk, who received a four-year scholarship from the university rector.

1st place – Adilbek Nurbakhit (Nazarbayev Intellectual School)
2nd place – Alikhan Okasov (Oralkhan Bokey Lyceum No. 44)
3rd place – Damir Sharipkhan (Nazarbayev Intellectual School)

Winners received diplomas, and all participants received certificates. In addition, teachers who prepared the students received letters of appreciation from the university rector.

The olympiad became an important educational platform aimed at identifying talented students, increasing their interest in science, and strengthening educational ties between schools and universities.
