The Erasmus+ program

Erasmus+ is a program of the European Union (EU) established in 1987 to support education, training, youth, and sport. The program is one of the key instruments of international academic cooperation and promotes the mobility of students and academic staff, strengthens partnerships between universities, and improves the quality of higher education.

The Erasmus+ Program for 2021–2027 places special emphasis on social inclusion, environmental sustainability, digital transformation, and the active participation of young people in the democratic life of society. Within the framework of the new program, opportunities for international cooperation have been expanded, including collaboration with partner countries outside the European Union.

Erasmus+ supports short-term and long-term academic mobility, joint educational programs, the development of innovative projects, modernization of curricula, and the institutional development of universities. Project implementation is carried out through various actions, including credit mobility (KA171), capacity-building projects in higher education (CBHE), strategic partnerships, and joint research initiatives.

Participation in the Erasmus+ program contributes to the internationalization of the university, enhances academic mobility, strengthens research cooperation, and promotes integration into the European Higher Education Area.

The procedure and conditions of the competitive selection are determined in accordance with the inter-university agreement and the requirements of the host university.

The competitive selection usually includes the evaluation of the following criteria:

  1. Grade Point Average (GPA);
  2. level of foreign language proficiency (in accordance with the requirements of the host institution);
  3. compliance of the educational program with the field of study;
  4. student motivation (if required — a motivation letter);
  5. interview results (if conducted);
  6. availability of academic achievements.

The final decision is made by the university’s selection committee in accordance with the existing agreement.
