AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY: 2025 RESULTS IN THE FIELD OF “PLANT BIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY”

The year 2025 became a period of strategic growth and strengthening of scientific potential in the field of Plant Biology and Biotechnology. We not only continued our core activities, but also took important steps to lay the foundation for the implementation of large-scale, promising projects.

On the basis of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, with scientific and methodological support from the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a Regional Foresight Center for the Agro-Industrial Complex was established and is successfully operating. The center’s goal is to develop long-term forecasts and development strategies for the agro-industrial complex of East Kazakhstan. Through the introduction of innovations and strategic planning, as well as analytical, forecasting, and organizational work, the center makes a real contribution to the development of the agro-industrial sector of East Kazakhstan and strengthens the university’s expert role at the national level.

This field has developed into a full-fledged scientific school. Along with the training of bachelor’s and master’s students, two research fellows—K. Bogdanova and G. Dolanbayeva—were admitted to PhD doctoral programs, with their dissertation research being conducted at our university. This confirms the high level of academic supervision and research infrastructure.

The results of scientific research were published in the form of two articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. Each publication represents a concrete contribution to the development of national science.

The laboratory serves as a starting research platform for young scientists. In the autumn competitions “Daryn” and “Zerde”, third-grade student Adiyat Yerzhanov won first place, while third-grade students D. Tutunkina and A. Yerkinbek took second place. Adiyat Yerzhanov is preparing to present his project at the national stage of the “Daryn” competition. In this way, we nurture a new generation of researchers and consistently develop our scientific school.

A particular source of pride for the laboratory is a unique collection of more than 100 potato varieties, representing invaluable genetic material for breeding and biotechnological research, with no analogues in the region.

We express our sincere gratitude to our team, students, partners, and everyone who believes in our mission. Ahead lie new discoveries, large-scale projects, and many victories.
