AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY CEREMONIALLY WELCOMED WORLD KARATE CHAMPION MILANA SHCHETININA
Today, a warm and ceremonial welcome was held at Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport for Milana Shchetinina, a student of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and a world karate champion, who returned from the prestigious international tournament The 5th World Kyokushin Championship, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Representatives of the university, faculty members, students, friends, and family gathered to congratulate the athlete on her outstanding achievement. Milana was greeted with flowers, applause, and heartfelt words of gratitude for her достойное representation of the university and the country on the world sports stage.
“Honestly, I did not expect such a welcome at all. I am incredibly pleased to see so many people here—familiar and dear faces, my university. This is tremendous support, for which I am sincerely grateful to the leadership of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, the faculty, the students, and everyone who came to meet me. These emotions are difficult to put into words. All my victories are the result of collective work—my family, my coach, and my university,” Milana shared.
Milana Shchetinina is a first-year student of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and a Master of Sport who has been practicing karate for 11 years. At the recent world championship, she confidently won the gold medal in the 18–21 age category, up to 60 kg, confirming her high level of preparation and athletic excellence.
The leadership of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University expressed pride in the student and noted that Milana’s achievements are a vivid example of determination, hard work, and the harmonious combination of academic studies and sports.
Milana Shchetinina’s victory became a significant event not only for the university but also for the entire sports community of the region, confirming the high potential of Kazakhstani athletes on the world stage.
