AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY LISTENED LIVE TO THE MESSAGE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

In East Kazakhstan University named after S. Amanzholov the leadership of the university, public figures, professors, teachers and experts heard the Address of the head of state Kasym-Jomart Tokayev “Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, public optimism.
In the new Address the leader of our country dwelt on topical issues concerning the development of economy, social support, anti-corruption policy, migration, development of entrepreneurship, expansion of investments and political stability in the country.
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev paid great attention to large-scale digitalization, which should cover all areas of the economy. On the instructions of the Head of State, the Government has launched an innovative AI-Sana program aimed at training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, which was announced at the end of Demo Day Astana Hub on Artificial Intelligence on December 11, 2024. To date, the AI Sana program is already being actively implemented at the alma mater and plans to reach 100,000 participants, including students and faculty. In addition, East Kazakhstan University has a STEM Center, a Robolab laboratory, and a Department of Computer Modeling and Information Technology with a rich material and technical fund. Innovative educational programs “STEM” and “Computer Mechatronics” have been implemented. Students of the university actively study disciplines in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, as well as annually participate in the Hackathon forum for developers.
The Head of State noted the need to provide the economy with qualified personnel in key sectors, such as water resources, which is one of the problem areas today. Earlier, the President repeatedly spoke about the need to modernize infrastructure for wastewater treatment and solve the problem of pollution of water bodies. Scientists of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University have developed innovative domestic filters for water purification, which are suitable both in households and in the production process. The project “Production of composite filtering materials for water purification” instantly interested the Government and won funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is planned to enter the market within a year. During this time a group of scientists should undergo technical training
and prepare a working site for mass production. The population of the country is guaranteed efficient and beneficial removal of pollutants such as heavy metals, microorganisms and organic compounds. The first domestic filters will be more affordable than their Russian counterparts. And the service life of domestic filters will be 4-5 months.
The regional alma mater is also training a new generation of hydro specialists. Kasym-Jomart Tokayev also stated about this necessity. The educational program “Hydroecology, Management and Transboundary Water Security” was introduced a couple of years ago. Its main goal is to train personnel who use geo-information methods to monitor water resources and are able to organize their activities taking into account environmental norms and standards for rational water use. Thus, East Kazakhstan University trains an impressive pool of hydrologists, hydrochemists, deforesters, glaciologists and GIS specialists in nature management.
The country’s leader also paid close attention to the agro-industrial complex in the country and agriculture in particular. According to him, new, smart and modern technologies are needed today to determine the quality of land. Such information is necessary to increase profits, make informed decisions on land use and protect against ill-considered investments. It enables rational resource management, selection of appropriate crops and technologies, and optimization of taxation and market value of plots. In this regard, East Kazakhstan University scientists are implementing a scientific project that effectively solves this problem. At the heart of the development is a drone with a multispectral camera, capable of taking pictures in five spectra: red, blue, green, near-infrared and mid-infrared. At the same time, our university team of scientists decided to use artificial intelligence to control weeds. The computer program recognizes different types of plants, including weeds. In the future, when reading photos from other fields, the program will automatically indicate whether there are weeds, where they are located, on what area. Such a map can be made for each agricultural enterprise.
I would like to note that land is a key element of the industry’s investment attractiveness. These scientific projects make an invaluable contribution to its development.
In his speech, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev also said: “It turned out that our entrepreneurs do not receive the necessary amount of state support compared to enterprises in other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. Therefore, they are in unfavorable conditions and are forced to cede even their own market to competitors. In particular, we are talking about milk producers”. It should be noted that East Kazakhstan University scientists have comprehensively studied the causes of price increases in the dairy industry – high logistics costs and participation of intermediaries – and developed an innovative project aimed at solving this problem. The researchers propose effective mechanisms for delivering products from small farms directly to the market, relying on the possibilities of digital logistics. The main goal of the initiative is to implement IT-technologies, sensors and automated systems for fast and efficient delivery of raw materials to processing plants and from there to stores. As a result, there is a real opportunity to reduce the cost of milk. The widespread introduction of digital technologies in agriculture will enable small farms to apply more efficient and sustainable delivery methods, strengthen the position of domestic producers in the market and improve the quality of life of the population.
Summarizing, I would like to note that the Address of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sets a clear benchmark for the development of our country, opening new opportunities and encouraging active participation of all segments of society in building an innovative and equitable state.
The consistent and balanced policy of the Head of State aimed at digitalization of the economy, support for science and education, as well as ensuring sustainable development of key sectors, such as water resources, agro-industry and entrepreneurship, deserves special recognition. Such systematic and purposeful work creates conditions for the growth of the national economy, improving the quality of life of citizens and increasing the international prestige of Kazakhstan.
S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is proud to be actively involved in the realization of tasks set by the President. Our university not only introduces modern educational programs and innovative technologies, but also develops scientific research, which find practical application and receive support at the state level. The implementation of projects in the field of artificial intelligence, ecology, digital logistics and agriculture confirms the high level of scientific potential and the readiness of our university to make a significant contribution to the development of the country.
We firmly intend to continue to support the initiatives of the Head of State and contribute to the realization of ambitious national goals, serving as an example of effective interaction between science, education and government for the benefit of Kazakhstan.
