One of the largest international programming competitions — ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) — in 2025 once again brought together thousands of talented students from around the world. This year, about 155 teams participated in the competition, of which 37 teams showed high results at the qualifying stage. Among these top teams were 37 teams from Kazakhstan, and one of them was the Amanzholov University team.

On November 15, the regional stage of ICPC 2025 was held in Semey, where students from the Department of Computer Modeling and Information Technologies of Amanzholov University demonstrated their skills with confidence and took second place. This success became an important achievement, allowing the university to represent the region at the international level and enhance its prestige.

ICPC is one of the most prestigious team programming competitions in the world. It involves more than 3,000 universities and tens of thousands of students from 103 countries. The competition is organized by Baylor University, and its main goal is to give talented youth the opportunity to exchange experiences, work in teams, and develop their potential in the IT field. During the competition, teams are evaluated based on the accuracy and speed of solving algorithmic problems. The contest develops logical thinking, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills — qualities demanded in any field of activity.

At the qualifying stage in Semey, six teams competed: two teams from Amanzholov University, as well as teams from Shakarim University, Alikhan Bokeikhan University, and S. Toraigyrov Pavlodar University. In the end, our students stood out for their high professional preparation and became one of the top teams.

The Amanzholov University team included Zhumabek Rustem and Cheriyazdanov Askhat — students of the educational program “6B06102 – Information Systems”, as well as Maksatuly Merhat — a student of the program “6B06101 – Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.” The team was led by an experienced mentor, senior lecturer Ualkhanova A.T., whose support and expertise significantly contributed to the students’ successful performance.

An important role in achieving success was played by the support of the university administration. The rectorate provided students with the necessary conditions for preparation, offering material, technical, and organizational support. Such systematic work allowed the students to confidently perform on the international stage.

The students of Amanzholov University contribute to the development of the IT field at the international level and proudly represent the country. The results of ICPC 2025 are a significant achievement, clearly demonstrating the high level of education at the university, the professionalism of the faculty, and the dedication of the students.
