ANNUAL REPORT MEETING OF THE RECTOR WITH THE PUBLIC WAS HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

Annual report meeting of the chairman of the board – rector Mukhtar Tolegen with the public was held at Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University

At East Kazakhstan University named after Sarsen Amanzholov, an annual report meeting of the chairman of the board – rector Mukhtar Tolegen with the public to review the university’s activities in 2025 took place.

The meeting was attended by faculty members, university staff, veterans, representatives of partner organizations, and students.

In his report, the rector noted that 2025 was a period of systemic changes, institutional development, and transition to a sustainable development model for the university as a regional hub for education, science, and innovation.

Currently, the university offers training for higher and postgraduate education in 154 educational programs covering key areas of socio-economic development of the region and the country. By the end of the first half of 2025, 91 percent of educational programs were updated, practically-oriented training was strengthened, and cooperation with the labor market and regional employers was expanded. Educational programs are designed based on competency models, the Atlas of New Professions, digital skills, and Industry 4.0 requirements.

The report highlighted the development of the “lifelong learning” principle, the implementation of the “Silver University” project, the formation of a student-centered university model, social support measures, and systematic work to strengthen academic integrity and legal culture. The university implements a zero-tolerance policy for violations of academic integrity, corruption, and offenses.

Internationalization is identified as one of the key priorities for the university’s development. The university is represented in the QS Asia ranking, participates in the Times Higher Education ranking, and is a member of international academic communities. In November 2025, the university became a member of a major international structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In 2027, the opening of a branch of the University of Genoa is planned.

Special attention was paid to achievements in science. The science budget for 2023–2025 reached 4.6 billion tenge, increasing 3.5 times. Researchers’ salaries doubled. Growth in the number of PhD degrees and associate professor titles indicates the university’s high scientific potential.

Furthermore, results were presented on the development of an innovation and technology ecosystem, commercialization of scientific research, technopark development, and the AI-Sana program. Within the program, more than 10,000 students completed artificial intelligence courses, and faculty members received international certificates.

At the end of the meeting, the rector answered participants’ questions and outlined the university’s strategic objectives for the upcoming period, calling on the university community and students to work together responsibly for the sustainable development of the university, the region, and the country.
