AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY, A ROUND TABLE ON THE PROTECTION OF CIVIL RIGHTS UNDER THE NEW CONSTITUTION TOOK PLACE

As part of Methodology Week, the “Jurisprudence” Department of the Higher School of Business and Law held a round table on the topic: “Implementation and Protection of Civil Rights in Light of the Adoption of the New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

The main goal of the event was to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan in terms of the implementation and protection of civil rights, as well as to discuss current legal mechanisms for ensuring these rights.

The round table brought together judges from the East Kazakhstan region, practicing lawyers and advocates, faculty members of the department, graduate students, and undergraduates, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience within a professional dialogue.

The event was opened by the moderator, Marianna Dyachuk, an associate professor of the “Jurisprudence” Department, candidate of legal sciences, and director of the East Kazakhstan branch of the National Chamber of Mediators. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of the topic amid ongoing legal reforms and the need to raise the legal culture of society.

Presentations were delivered by leading legal specialists: Zhanar Shakenova, a judge of the Interdistrict Court of Ust-Kamenogorsk; Sergey Shigrin, an advocate of the East Kazakhstan Bar Association; Altynova Arinova, head of the Chamber of Legal Consultants of East Kazakhstan; Ainur Ramazanova, associate professor of the Jurisprudence Department; Aksana Kalenova, commissioner for children’s rights in East Kazakhstan; and Anastasia Gabrielyan, a second-year master’s student in the “Jurisprudence” program.

During the round table, participants discussed key provisions of the draft new Constitution, paying particular attention to the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms, the role of the judicial system, and the function of legal institutions in ensuring justice and legality. Current issues in law enforcement practice were addressed, and possible solutions were proposed.

The event was conducted in an open dialogue format, allowing participants to exchange opinions, ask questions, and develop practical recommendations.

Such events help students develop a deep understanding of legal processes, enhance analytical thinking, and strengthen the professional competencies of future lawyers.
