EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR STARTS DIGITALIZATION OF EAST KAZAKHSTAN UNIVERSITY’S LITERARY AND CULTURAL HERITAGE

East Kazakhstan is one of the most picturesque and historically rich regions of the country. This region is unique not only for its nature, but also for its deep history and legends. Now, Aizhan Kartayeva, a professor at S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, intends to make the region’s rich heritage available in digital format. Her project has received grant funding.

The digitization of the literary heritage of East Kazakhstan Region opens up new opportunities for promoting the region to the world. Place names and legends will be presented in three languages—Kazakh, Russian, and English—in the form of digital materials for tourists. The prepared guidebooks and dictionaries will become a powerful tool for promoting the cultural wealth of the region and will give a serious impetus to the development of local tourism.

– As part of the project, information about natural and historical sites in Eastern Kazakhstan will be digitized, and a tourist map of routes and a collection of legends will be compiled. In-depth research has been conducted on each place name and historical site, and the information will be presented in an easy-to-read and engaging format. Tourists will not only be able to read about legends and place names, but also see them through photo illustrations and digital materials, said Aizhan Kartayeva.

This project is important for the entire tourism industry of the country. Increasing the region’s visibility will lead to an increase in the number of tourists, which will open up new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and guides.
Digitization of information will increase the tourist appeal of East Kazakhstan Region and allow it to be presented at the international level. The prepared materials and resources can serve as an example for other regions of the country.
