ECO-BALANCE OF THE FUTURE: SCIENCE AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION
We invite you to take part in a joint scientific teleconference between the Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K. Satpayev (KazNRTU named after K. Satpayev) and Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University (EKU named after S. Amanzholov) on the topic “Reducing Plastic Pollution of the Environment: Myth or Reality,” organized within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Time: March 31, 2026, 11:00 – 13:00
Format: offline and online (Google Meet – https://meet.google.com/dqp-hhzm-afe)
Venue: International R&D Center for Advanced Functional Materials and Their Composites, KazNRTU named after K. Satpayev
Purpose – discussion of modern scientific approaches to solving environmental problems in agriculture and the agro-industrial sector, in particular plastic pollution, soil degradation, and water contamination, using natural polymers, cellulose-based biomaterials, and environmentally friendly biostimulants to improve crop sustainability. The event also предусматривает exchange of scientific results in the field of efficient use of renewable raw materials, development of biodegradable materials, and implementation of “green” technologies.
Main seminar topics:
Natural polymer materials: addressing plastic pollution in the agri-food sector;
Production of microcrystalline cellulose from soybean husks: optimization of the concentration of the delignifying agent and determination of qualitative composition (α-, β-, and γ-cellulose);
Environmental aspects of using endogenous biostimulants – fusicoccin in pre-sowing treatment of agricultural crop seeds;
Environmental safety and effectiveness of using natural plant growth regulators (using fusicoccin as an example) in sustainable farming systems;
Cellulose-based biomaterials as an important factor in ensuring sustainable development;
Synthesis and characterization of composite films based on MCC and PANI.
The seminar covers the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 4 – Quality Education: improvement of the education system, development of research potential, implementation of innovative technologies, as well as creating conditions for professional growth of students and young scientists;
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: development of sorption materials to protect water resources from pollution;
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: development of next-generation biomaterials and technologies;
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: recycling of agricultural waste and production of biodegradable materials;
SDG 13 – Climate Action: reduction of carbon footprint through the use of environmentally friendly materials.
During the seminar, participants will be able to ознакомиться with modern scientific achievements in the field of synthesis, properties, and application of new materials based on natural polymers and cellulose derivatives, as well as exchange experience.
We invite all interested researchers, young scientists, and specialists to take an active part in the scientific teleconference.
