HOW AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY SUPPORTS KAZAKHSTAN SCIENTISTS

The development of science is one of the key priorities for Kazakhstan. On the instructions of the head of state, funding for scientific research has been increased, scientific organizations are being modernized, and the number of internships abroad is increasing, which makes science more attractive for young people and contributes to the development of international cooperation and strengthening of research infrastructure.

The management of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University actively supports the strategy of the President, creating all conditions for the development of domestic science and comfortable work of scientists.
Only in 2024, 10 researchers and developers of Amanzholov University were included in the list of queue of mortgage lending under the program “Zhas galym”. Many of them became happy owners of the keys to their own apartments. For example, Asel Zhilkashinova received housing in one of the residential complexes of Astana. In turn, Nurtoleu Magazov, Meruert Maulet, Didar Seyitzhan bought housing in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

– My apartment is bright, spacious and warm. It is located in the elite, new district of the regional center. There is a wonderful infrastructure here. It is convenient that all apartments are already with cosmetic repair. If you want, you can immediately move in and settle in. Thank you to our President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and “Otbasy Bank” for such support of the scientific community. This is a great help and motivation for us,” Meruert Maulet shared her joy.
Scientific minds of the alma mater regularly participate in the state competition “Young Scientist”, which aims to support research initiatives. From 2021 to 2024, 16 grant funding competitions were held across the country, resulting in more than 2,000 scientific projects.
This year, three researchers of AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY won projects totaling 82,441,616 tenge. In particular, Nazgul Zhensikbaeva, Bakdaulet Anas and Kuralay Alipina.

– My project “Study of the impact of anthropogenic factors and climate change on tree species growing in industrial regions of East Kazakhstan by dendroindication method” is aimed at studying the impact of anthropogenic factors and climate change on woody plants in industrial cities of our region and meets the objectives of sustainable development, – said Kuralay Alipina.

It should be noted that the state funding of applied science for 2025-2027 has been increased to 531.1 billion tenge. To improve the status of scientific workers, salaries of employees of scientific organizations were increased by 18%, and additional payments for having scientific titles increased up to 50-fold MRP.
The support of the state, active involvement of young people, strengthening of ties between science and industry, as well as assistance from universities open new horizons for the development of the country. Science is becoming not only an engine of innovation, but also an important element of the national strategy aimed at sustainable development and prosperity.
