LAW AND ORDER: REGIONAL HACKATHON “IT AGAINST DRUGS” HELD AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

At the initiative of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences and the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Information Technologies of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, a regional hackathon titled “IT Against Drugs” was organized within the framework of the “Law and Order” program.

The goal of the hackathon was to develop digital solutions aimed at combating drug addiction among young people and preventing social problems through the use of modern IT tools. A total of 24 students from eight colleges of the regional center, as well as from the cities of Altai and Shemonaikha, took part in the competition.

Participants were tasked with creating socially significant software products. The projects focused on drug prevention, improving awareness and outreach efforts, and enhancing public safety. During the hackathon, teams not only presented their developments but also defended their projects before a competent jury panel.

Based on the results of the competition, the best teams were recognized as:
– “DataNomads” (Daulet Serikbayev IT College),
– “Alpha Creative” (Sarsen Amanzholov Higher College),
– “Cyber Code” (Ust-Kamenogorsk Higher Polytechnic College).

The jury included Professor of the Department of AI and IT Zheniskul Zhantasova, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics Erzhan Malgazhdarov, Head of the Department of AI and IT Gulnur Zhunusova, Senior Lecturer Ainur Ualkhanova, and Software Engineer Nursultan Kakharmanov.

The hackathon contributed to strengthening the social responsibility of young people and allowed them to channel their creative potential in the field of IT for the benefit of society.

Amanzholov University continues to support such initiatives, encouraging youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle and effectively use digital technologies to address socially significant challenges. Within the framework of the “Law and Order” program, the university plans to systematically implement projects aimed at promoting youth engagement, strengthening public safety, and ensuring sustainable social development.
