NEXT-GENERATION PROFESSIONALS: AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE COUNTRY’S ENERGY SECURITY

In his Address to the Nation, the Head of State emphasized the importance of building a nuclear power plant as a key step toward ensuring the country’s energy security.

Amanzholov University has been training specialists in this field for over ten years. In 2025, in collaboration with the IAEA, STAR-NET, and the National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan, the university launched the country’s first master’s program in “Nuclear Physics and Radiation Materials Science.” Today, students of the university continue their studies in Lithuania, Japan, Russia, and Malaysia, and undertake internships at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna.

Recently, the cooperation between Amanzholov University and the Malaysian Nuclear Agency has reached a new level. During a visit to Kuala Lumpur, the parties discussed the training of specialists in line with international standards and familiarized themselves with the TRIGA PUSPATI research reactor. In 2026, the university plans to open a new Research Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and Atomic Energy, which will be equipped with modern instruments and enable students to deepen their practical skills.

This partnership opens up new horizons for the training of highly qualified specialists and the implementation of joint scientific research. Amanzholov University remains committed to contributing to the development of Kazakhstan’s nuclear energy sector and to preparing a new generation of scientists and engineers capable of addressing the nation’s strategic challenges.
