PARTICIPATION OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN THE EVENT DEDICATED TO WORLD AUTISM DAY

At the KSU “Asyl Miras” Center for Supporting Children with Autism, under the Department of Education of East Kazakhstan Region, an event dedicated to World Autism Awareness Day was held. The meeting actively involved faculty members of the Department of Psychology and Special Education, as well as first-year students of the “Ergopedagogy with a Specialization in Ergotherapy (Ergorehabilitation)” program and second-year students of the “Special Education” program at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.

The main goal of the event was to increase awareness of the characteristics of autism spectrum disorders and to foster an inclusive and tolerant attitude toward people with autism in society. In today’s world, issues of acceptance, support, and guidance for children with special educational needs are especially relevant, making such initiatives socially significant.

During the event, specialists from the Center delivered a series of informative presentations focused on key aspects of working with children with autism. Topics included programs for “Early Support,” aimed at timely identification and correction of developmental features; “Development of Learning Skills,” focused on building foundational and academic competencies; and “The Role of the Family in Supporting a Child with Autism,” emphasizing the importance of parental involvement in rehabilitation and socialization.

The presentations were accompanied by active discussion and exchange of ideas among participants, deepening understanding of the topics and exploring practical aspects of work in this field. Students had the opportunity not only to expand their theoretical knowledge but also to learn from the real-world experience of specialists, which is particularly important for their professional development.

The event served as an effective platform for dialogue between future specialists and practitioners, contributing to the development of students’ professional competencies and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance of disseminating accurate information about autism and building a society in which every individual, regardless of their characteristics, has the right to support, understanding, and full participation in life.
