REGIONAL ONLINE SUBJECT OLYMPIAD ON LIFE SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

A regional online subject olympiad in the field of “Life Safety and Environmental Protection” was held at Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University among school students. Teams from schools in the East Kazakhstan region and the Abai region participated in the intellectual competition.

The event was organized by senior lecturers of the Department of Ecology and Geography of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences of the university — Gulyfat Kalelova and Serik Bakin.

The olympiad was held in two stages. In the first stage, participants completed a 40-question test on life safety and environmental protection. The second stage involved the presentation of scientific projects dedicated to current problems of environmental safety, emergency prevention, and the development of a culture of safe behavior.

The results of the regional online subject olympiad in “Life Safety and Environmental Protection” were as follows:

1st place (88 points)
Team of KGU “Regional Specialized Boarding School-Gymnasium named after Zhambyl for Gifted Children” (Ust-Kamenogorsk).

2nd place (84 points)
KGU “Gymnasium No. 6 of Semey” (Abai region, Semey):

3rd place:

  • KGU “Ulkenboken Secondary School” (Kokpektinsky District) — 83 points

  • KGU “Tarkhanskaya Secondary School – Kindergarten Complex” of the Glubokovsky District Department of Education — 82 points

  • KGU “Rykov Secondary School” of Katon-Karagay District — 80 points

The regional online olympiad became an important platform for identifying and supporting school students interested in life safety and environmental protection. Key objectives of the event included the development of theoretical and practical competencies in fire and environmental safety, enhancement of risk analysis skills and actions in emergency situations, promotion of a culture of safe behavior and environmental responsibility among youth, and support for students’ research and project activities.

Such events contribute to the development of logical thinking, quick decision-making, teamwork skills, and the ability to respond in non-standard situations. The olympiad also helps to identify motivated and talented students focused on further professional development in the fields of safety and applied ecology.

Overall, the event was conducted at a high organizational level, and its results confirm the importance of studying life safety and environmental responsibility within the modern education system.
