RESEARCH MISSION OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS: EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE AND NEW INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF DEI

Leading researchers of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University — Larisa Nazyrova and Elena Barabanova — completed a scientific mission as part of the grant project “Socio-Psychological Support for the Formation of a DE&I Culture in Kazakhstani Companies amid Social Modernization” (IRN AP23489784). The trip took place at the University of Genoa (Italy) and the University of Duisburg–Essen (Germany).

The purpose of the mission was to study European experience in implementing DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) principles in educational and corporate structures, establish partnerships with foreign universities, and identify opportunities for adapting effective inclusive practices to Kazakhstan’s context.

During the visit to the University of Genoa, meetings were held with Professor Guido Franco Amoretti and the Director of the Department of Educational Sciences, Professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology Maria Carmen Usai. The parties discussed the exchange of scientific methodologies, joint publications, and academic mobility opportunities.

The project team of Amanzholov University met with the Developmental and Educational Psychology Research Group and the Polo Bozzo Research Unit, where they presented their research on the development of DEI culture in Kazakhstani organizations. Professors Sabrina Panesi and Laura Traverso shared their experience in using digital and analog games for the development of cognitive skills and the creation of an inclusive educational environment.

A meeting was also held with Dr. Rita Cersosimo, PhD in Digital Humanities and an inclusive education specialist. Discussions focused on the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in teaching, support, and social adaptation of individuals with special educational needs.

At the University of Duisburg–Essen, the Kazakhstani delegation met with the Director of the Institute for Work and Qualifications (IAQ), Professor Ute Klammer. The conversation addressed aspects of Germany’s social policy, the integration of vulnerable groups into the labor market, and corporate inclusion practices.

During consultations with the IAQ research team, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation under the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs, joint publications, and the development of international scientific collaboration.

Additionally, Elena Buravtseva, a specialist from the Employment Center of the Recklinghausen district, shared an effective model for employment and professional development. This model, based on individualized support, equal opportunities, and cross-sector partnerships, was recognized as promising for implementation in Kazakhstan.

As a result of the mission, agreements were reached on conducting joint research, publishing scientific articles, academic exchanges, and adapting European DEI practices to the Kazakhstani educational and corporate environment.
