SCIENTISTS OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY CONDUCTED AN INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL SEMINAR IN AZERBAIJAN

As part of the targeted program scientific initiative approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, titled “Regional Integration of Literary and Linguistic Tourism in East Kazakhstan: Digitalization of the Etymology of Toponyms and Local Legends,” an international scientific and methodological seminar was held on December 9, 2025, at the Center for Turkic Studies of the Azerbaijan University of Languages.

Representatives of the Department of Kazakh and Russian Philology and Journalism of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University delivered scientific reports on the research project, including Professor and Doctor of Philology Aizhan Kartaeva, Head of Department Karlygash Barbosynova, Associate Professor and Candidate of Philology Aigul Alimkhan, and Senior Lecturer Jazira Kairbayeva.

During the seminar, participants discussed the study of the literary and cultural heritage of the East Kazakhstan region, the historical and etymological nature of toponyms, the role of geographical names in the development of regional linguistic tourism, and issues related to the collection of local legends and folklore materials and their presentation in modern digital formats.

Special attention was given to the comparative-historical analysis of toponymic units reflecting the shared cultural and spiritual space of the Kazakh and other Turkic peoples. Discussions also addressed the formation of literary and linguistic tourism routes using digital platforms, as well as effective ways to incorporate local legends and traditions into the educational process.

In addition, scholars from both universities exchanged views on developing scientific cooperation, conducting joint research, participating in international scientific projects, preparing shared educational and methodological manuals and monographs, and co-publishing scientific articles.

The seminar represented an important step in strengthening international scientific collaboration and expanding research potential in the field of literary and linguistic tourism.
