THE “BIOVISION AI” COMPETITION WAS HELD AT THE BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY
In the era of rapid digitalization, the biological sciences are actively integrating with artificial intelligence, opening up new research directions and scientific opportunities. In support of this trend, the Biology Department of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University held an internal university competition for student creative projects, “BioVision AI.” The main goal of the event was to promote the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the biological sciences and to enhance the scientific potential of students.
The competition involved students from 1st to 4th year, who presented individual and team projects. Participants not only demonstrated their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, scientific analysis, and research skills but also showcased their level of innovative thinking and proficiency with digital tools.
The submitted projects stood out for their broad range of topics and relevance. They covered areas such as the use of AI in studying regional biodiversity; human genetic traits and heredity issues; and the development of digital platforms and tools for popularizing biological knowledge.
All projects were based on topics included in the syllabi of courses such as “Invertebrate Zoology,” “Genetics,” “Methods of Teaching Biology,” and “Plant and Animal Ecology.” This allowed students to link theory with practice and propose real scientific solutions.
The works were evaluated based on relevance, scientific novelty, the level of AI integration, and the quality of the presentation. At the end of the competition, winners were awarded the Grand Prix, as well as first, second, and third place diplomas. The best projects earned the right to participate in subsequent university and national competitions.
“BioVision AI” became a platform for future researchers. The event was not only a presentation of scientific projects but also an intellectual environment where students exchanged experiences, generated new ideas, and recognized the importance of modern technologies in biology.
The “BioVision AI” initiative will serve as a foundation for new startups and research at the intersection of biology and artificial intelligence. Support for young scientists and the development of innovative directions within Amanzholov University will continue.
