UNIVERSITY OF CHAMPIONS: PRIDE PROVEN BY VICTORIES

Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University rightfully takes pride in the students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, who bring recognition to the university not only in classrooms but also on the largest sports arenas. Among them are Elaman Bazylbekuly and Zhalgas Torekhanov, whose achievements already command respect at both national and international levels.

Elaman Bazylbekuly, a third-year student in “Physical Culture and Sports,” has been practicing arm wrestling for four years. In a relatively short time, he has achieved impressive results. Elaman is a multiple-time regional champion, champion of Kazakhstan, and medalist in national competitions. His success has extended far beyond the country: he became the champion of the prestigious international tournament “Siberian Bear,” a medalist at the Asian Championship, and a two-time World Cup champion. His journey is a vivid example of how perseverance and systematic training lead to outstanding achievements.

Equally impressive is the story of Zhalgas Torekhanov, also a third-year student at FCS. He started in sports relatively recently, in 2022, at the invitation of a friend, yet he quickly achieved remarkable results. Early in his career, he made a name for himself by becoming the Youth Champion of Kazakhstan at competitions in the city of Taraz.

Today, Zhalgas is the Champion of Kazakhstan among men and youth, Asian Champion, two-time World Champion, medalist in world championships, winner of international tournaments, and holds the title of Master of Sport. One of his most notable achievements was at the World Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where he twice stood on the top podium. He also confirmed his high level at the Kazakhstan Men’s Championship in Almaty.

Both athletes represent our university with distinction, strengthening its reputation on the international sports stage. Their achievements are not only personal victories but also a contribution to the university’s prestige, an inspiration for students, and an example of what can be achieved through hard work, discipline, and self-belief.
