The Department of psychology and correctional pedagogy

The Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy has fruitful cooperation with a number of leading organizations and educational institutions both within the country and abroad. Our partners include the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Kazakhstan Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Preventive Mechanism of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as an Israeli research group.

In our activities, we also actively cooperate with leading universities abroad, such as the Dusseldorf Institute for Advanced Training IhIWENT, the German Institute for Management Personnel Change in Cologne, Lacuila University in Italy, the University of Porto in Portugal, as well as the St. Petersburg Bekhterev Institute.

The leaders of the department are outstanding scientists, doctors of psychological sciences. The human capital of the department is represented by highly qualified teachers and researchers, including candidates and doctors of sciences. The development of specialties and educational programs includes educational programs in the field of applied psychology, such as psychological service, organizational psychology, medical psychology with a focus on mental health, as well as specialization in legal psychology, including expertise and legal research for the court. Much attention is paid to the development of methods and programs in the field of support, correction and child therapy, working with the Dana Bala center. The department actively supports scientific schools, develops the specifics of teaching, participates in the organization of Olympiads, festivals, weeks and other educational events (Kukina Yu.E., Toktarbekova K.T., Kanapiyanova K.D.).

Another notable achievement of the department is the development of speech therapy practice (Stelmakh S.U., Baychinov R.T.), as well as cooperation with sign language laboratories and classes (Kamzina A.). The use of psychophysiological research (Barabanova E.I., Matskevich I.K., Smailova Zh.Y) and practice using various methods such as BOS, EEG, Polygraph are also among the key achievements. The department has also been actively engaged in the consulting laboratory since 2001. An important area of the department's work was close ties in the field of military and power psychology (Akanova Zh.M., Tyulyupergeneva R.Zh.), as well as the direction of expert research, including children's content, legal protection and the development of Kazakhstani reports on children.

Educational activities of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy are conducted in accordance with the plan of educational work for the forthcoming academic year.

Curators annually make a plan for cultural events. The events are recorded in the curator's journal. The staff of the department pays special attention to student self-government, public life of students in their leisure time, as well as healthy life style of students. Curatorial hours are spent on healthy lifestyles, where students themselves take an active part.

Conducted talks on the prevention of religious extremism with examples of what it leads to. Conducted also in talks with teachers and students about the fight against corruption and various offenses.

Teachers and students regularly take part in public events and competitions at the faculty, university, city, region and republic level, where they take prizes.

09.10.2024 In order to provide career guidance to students of Ust-Kamenogorsk Higher Medical College, teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Kukina Yu. E., Toktarbekova K. T., Baytemirova K. B. and the executive secretary of the admissions committee Bayzhumanova L. T. Leila Toleubaevna told about the advantages, achievements, and admissions committee of the Higher School of Economics named after S. Amanzholov visited. Yulia Evgenievna, Kuralai Tokhtarbekovna, Karakat Berikkhanovna spoke in detail about the specialties of our department (Special Pedagogy, psychology, clinical psychology), including new educational programs (ergopedagogy, early support pedagogy). The advantages of these professions were announced, in which institutions they can serve.

8.11.2024 An interactive training session for 11th grade students was held at secondary school No. 24 as part of career guidance work.

The event was organised by Alima Alipova, Head of the “Dana Bala” Centre, Yulia Kukina, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, and students of the Psychology Department Dmitry Poteshkin and Mikhail Yesipov.

29.11.2024 Competition «Logo Party» for students of 1-3 courses of the educational program ”Special Pedagogy“, ”Ergopedagogy“,”Early support pedagogy“ was held in the form of a relay race organized by 4th year students and the curator of the educational program ”Defectology" Senior lecturer Kanapiyanova K. D.

05.12.24 The event" PSYCHO time "was organized by the 4th year students and curator of the educational program" psychology "senior lecturer zh.m. Akanova for 1-3 year students of the EP" psychology"," clinical psychology".

08.01.25 Teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Baytemirova K. B. And Tokhtarbekova K. We conducted a transformational training "My profession is my future." The event for schoolchildren consisted of a quiz, games, and an explanation of the importance of making the right choice of future profession. Speakers used psychological methods to help understand the abilities of the training participants. According to the students, such events have a positive impact on their self-understanding.

17 01.2025 A fair of specialties “Magic World of Professions” was held in secondary school №20 named after Akhmet Baitursynov. It was held with the participation of specialists from universities and colleges of the regional center. The event was attended by Senior Lecturer Karakat Baitemirova, responsible for career guidance work of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy.

28.01.2025 Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Kukina Y.E. and Master’s student of the Department of Defectology Mukhamadieva A.E. conducted career guidance work among students of the 9th grade of secondary school №23. 

26.02.2025 Teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Kukina Y.E. and Kanapiyanova K.D. discussed the issues of career guidance of high school students with the deputy director of educational work “Verkh-Uba comprehensive secondary school” Berg G.A. Berg G.A. 

17.03.2025 Students of the fourth year of the specialty “Defectology” within the framework of industrial and pedagogical practice in the support center for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder “Asyl Miras” took part in the work of the methodological association of teachers. The participants of the event studied psychological and pedagogical reflection, self-diagnosis and self-reflection, as well as formed an individual program of education and upbringing of children with special needs.

 05.02.2025, an event for schoolchildren was organized at the East Kazakhstan Museum of Art as part of the "Year of Working Professions". The purpose of the event was to form students' professional orientation, develop a positive attitude to work and provide psychological support for future career choices.

The event was attended by Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Kukina Yulia Evgenievna and senior lecturer Baytemirova Karakat Berikkhanovna. A psychological game "My profession and money" was held, aimed at choosing a profession. During this game, students determined their interests and abilities, and shared their opinions on choosing a future profession.

Since 2019 , the department has been working in two scientific areas:

 -"Socio-psychological determinants of interaction, behavior and development of subjects in a multicultural space",

- "Actual problems of psychology of development of social and educational environments".

In the era of globalization, one of the important factors in the education of the current generation is the formation of the value of history and historical consciousness. The importance of modernization of public consciousness, development of competitiveness, pragmatism, preservation of national identity, popularization of the cult of knowledge and openness of consciousness of citizens is emphasized. These qualities should become the main guidelines of a modern Kazakhstani. There is an increasing need to introduce psychological knowledge to the masses and explain the socio-psychological phenomena that manifest themselves in human life.

In the context of the announced changes and updates, professionals, competent specialists are required who are able to systematically and purposefully carry out work on the formation of national consciousness, building up and modernizing scientific and theoretical potential, systematically deepening and expanding the study of scientific research, replenishing the scientific data bank, continuing fundamental and applied research.

Research topics cover all areas of activity of the department and the specialization of teachers in certain areas.

In accordance with the research plan , the following fundamental and exploratory scientific research is being developed at the department:

• methodology of psychological research;
• moral consciousness and value-semantic orientations of the individual;
• personal development at all stages of life;
• personality in extreme conditions;
• personality and ethnic groups in the conditions of internationalization and global acculturation; • creation of conditions for the upbringing and development of personality;
• about the problems of dual training of specialists in modern educational conditions;
• inclusive education;
• problems of correction, education and upbringing of children with disabilities;
• career guidance at various life stages; • development of online psychological products.

The purpose of the research: an integral study of socio-psychological phenomena during the implementation of the "Rukhani Zhangyru" Program, monitoring.

To achieve this goal , the following tasks are set:

- identification of the state and trends in the study of the problem of socio-psychological phenomena at the present stage of development of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

 - analysis of ethnopsychological aspects of the manifestation of socio-psychological phenomena during the implementation of the Program "Rukhani Zhangyru";

- an empirical study of the dynamics of socio-psychological phenomena during the implementation of the "Rukhani Zhangyru" Program in order to identify contradictory moments of development;

 - development of practical recommendations on the harmonization and optimization of the manifestation of socio-psychological phenomena in Kazakhstan during the implementation of the Program "Rukhani Zhangyru".

The implementation of new curricula and programs for bachelors and undergraduates has continued; innovative educational and methodological complexes are being implemented, the system of support for research activities of students and young scientists is actively developing.

Theoretical research results are constantly tested in practice in psychological work with individuals and groups in society, become the content of the innovative educational program of the Higher School of Economics in the field of psychology, are used in the educational process and are introduced into the practice of the education system. Analysis and generalization of the data obtained and their use in practical work allows you to constantly adjust curricula and programs, i.e. to implement the results of theoretical and scientific-practical activities of the department's specialists in the educational process.

The policy of choosing the directions of scientific projects is dictated by the following:

• personal interest and experience of each project developer, availability of necessary competencies,
• priority direction of the development of social and humanitarian science,
• the significance of solving problems for the social sphere,
• social demands of educational institutions, requests of society,
• taking into account the specialization of students and undergraduates,  modern trends in science and education, novelty and relevance of the problems under consideration,
• availability of a practice base for conducting research.  orientation to the available equipment of the department,
• the inability to solve the problem in a reasonable time without the lack of financial support,
• novelty and progressiveness of the results,
• the reality of solving the problem, based on the possibilities of the existing reserve, the availability of personnel, material and technical base and other necessary resources.

Reviewing, examination:

Professors and teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy actively participate as reviewers and experts in various scientific projects, scientific and methodological literature and scientific research.

Professor Stelmakh S.A. within the framework of the project of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken", the first Professional standard in the republic was developed: "Specialist psychologist in the field of health care" (2018). Also in 2022, Stelmakh S.A. was involved as an expert to conduct an examination of updated educational literature for special schools by the Republican Scientific andthe practical center for the examination of the content of education in the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Professor I.K. Matskevich is a participant of the project on strengthening the justice system and protection of children's rights, which is part of the program of the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF in Kazakhstan.

In 2021, by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan, I.K. Matskevich and E.I. Barabanova were the editor and compiler of the Report on the Situation of Children in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2021.

Field events:

Teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy periodically hold on-line and offline meetings with school graduates, during which the advantages of studying at the VCU, the educational programs of the department, admission conditions are discussed.

Teachers of the department take part as a jury in the work of subject Olympiads for students of schools of the city and region. Joint events are held with the city's schools, seminars for the teaching staff of the assigned schools and students of the graduating classes; on-site career guidance consultations on the schools of the East Kazakhstan region.

 International cooperation within the framework of science:

The teachers of the department continue to work closely with the Erasmus, Erasmus+ programs, with the UN Children's Fund UNICEF, OSCE in the framework of project activities, expert work.

Agavelyan R.O.

The S. Amanzholov VCU successfully implements a program to attract foreign specialists at the expense of the budget funds of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and at the expense of extra-budgetary funds of the University, within which foreign professors visited the department to lecture and consult undergraduates (Doctor of Psychological Sciences T.N. At the department there is a student scientific circle «Neuropsychology: theory and practice».

Students and undergraduates take an active part in international, republican and regional scientific and practical conferences, the result of which are speeches at breakout sessions and the publication of scientific articles.

An intra-departmental Olympiad is held annually for students of all courses majoring in psychology, clinical psychology and special pedagogy.

Every year students take part in international online Olympiads and competitions of scientific papers and projects, republican online and offline subject Olympiads. In 2023, students of OP Defectology took the 3rd place in the Republican subject Olympiad on the educational program "Special pedagogy - Defectology" (Petropavlovsk, M. Kozybaev SKU).

The use of research results in the education system:

The results and conclusions obtained in the course of research activities carried out at the department are used in the educational system in relation to improving teaching methods, program content or other aspects of educational practice. This helps to link academic science with the practical needs of the educational environment and ensure a more efficient and high-quality learning process.

01.04.2024 On the basis of  S. Amanzholov EKU regional scientific and methodological round table on the topic “Inclusion and RAS (autism spectrum disorder): Realities and Opportunities”. The event was timed to the cycle of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology” in EKU.

In the round table meeting was attended by representatives of the akimat of East Kazakhstan region, public organizations, scientists, teachers, faculty and students, specialists working in the system of inclusive education, as well as guests from other regions of Kazakhstan in online mode.

21.06.2024 Head of the Centre for Continuous and Inclusive Education “Dana bala” Alima Alipova together with teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Yulia Kukina and Kymbat Kanapiyanova visited the Cabinet of psychological and pedagogical correction of Ust-Kamenogorsk city.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarise with the recently opened early support room within the framework of the project “Time of Opportunities”. It should be noted that this is the first Early Support Service in the country, which is equipped by “Dara” Foundation.
During the meeting with Marina Belkova, head of the KPCC, the parties agreed to cooperate and organise internships for students of the Early Support Pedagogy educational programme.

5.06.2024  Within the framework of the project “Modernization of Secondary Education” of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, two new rooms of inclusive education were opened in Amanzholov University.

In addition, the classrooms are equipped with digital training courses of practical orientation, computer and technological equipment, and specialized furniture that creates favorable conditions for learning.

5.08.2024 In the period 2024-2026, with the support of grant funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the department implements the scientific project "Socio-psychological support for the formation of the DE&I culture of Kazakhstani companies in the context of social modernization", aimed at promoting the DE&I culture in Kazakh society.

This project, carried out by scientists of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy under the supervision of Doctor of Psychology N.A. Ladzina, is aimed at studying and implementing the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in corporate culture, which contributes to the creation of a sustainable and fair working environment. The relevance of the project is determined by the need to overcome the psychological barriers that arise when introducing innovative changes, especially in the context of social modernization. The project is aimed at creating a value attitude towards the principles of DE&I, taking into account the socio-cultural and ethnopsychological features of Kazakhstan.

12.08.2024  Collaboration of physicists, computer scientists and defectologists in the project “Competence Center for psychological and pedagogical training and methodological and technological support of children with special educational needs” gives positive results. The university scientists received a patent for an interactive table for a defectologist. Now it is planned to disseminate the domestic product for practical activities of specialists.

The innovative table is equipped with tools to help children with speech delays: a touch screen monoblock, an interactive panel, a professional speech therapy mirror, speech therapy cards and methodological material in Kazakh language

19.11.2024 Amanzholov University hosted an international scientific-practical conference “The Value of Diversity: in Education and in Society”, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology”.

The conference included face-to-face and online sessions.

The moderator of the event was Svetlana Stelmakh – Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.

20.11.2024 Representatives of Amanzholov University took part in the ІІІ Regional Forum for young teachers of East-Kamenogorsk region “Zhas ustaz: tabyskа aparar zhol”, organized by the branch of NIS in Ust-Kamenogorsk together with the Educational Department of East-Kamenogorsk region.

An important part of the forum program was a transformational game “Apparently, I am”, conducted by teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy of East Kazakhstan University – Yulia Kukina and Kymbat Kanapianova. This game is aimed at determining professional attitudes.

20.11.2024 During her working trip to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Deputy Prime Minister of RK Tamara Duisenova familiarized herself with the Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education “Dana bala”, which is opened in 2022 on the basis of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. Unique for the region, the facility is aimed at practice-oriented training of specialists to work with students with children with disabilities, who visit the center with parents to receive educational services.

Tamara Kasymovna was presented the possibilities of the laboratories of hardware psychodiagnostics and psychocorrection, sensory integration and correction, STEAM and speech therapy room. Each of these spaces is aimed at effective correction of special children from different aspects.

3.12.2024 Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy Irina Matskevich made a report at the global conference of the Senate of Kazakhstan and UNICEF, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child by Kazakhstan.

26.12.2024 From December 23 to 25, 2024 within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University and the Institute of Forensic Examinations in East Kazakhstan region held a training course on “Effective Leadership and Personnel Management”.

The participants of the program were heads and deputy heads of the branch of the State Enterprise “Forensic Expertise Center of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan”. Leading the course was an associate professor, candidate of psychological sciences Julia Kukina with the participation of a third-year student of EP “Psychology” Dmitry Poteshkin.

10.02.2025 The Dana Bala Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education and the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, together with the Department of Education of the East Kazakhstan region, organized a republican case conference.

The event was held as part of the implementation of the third UN Goal on Sustainable Development, "Promoting the well-being of all people of all ages and supporting a healthy lifestyle." The purpose of the republican case conference is to discuss current technologies for raising and educating preschool children with special educational needs in inclusive education.

21.04.2025 the International Scientific and practical conference"partnership with parents in the context of Inclusive Education" was held.

The purpose of the conference is to discuss modern approaches to the interaction of educational organizations and parents of children with special educational needs to create an effective inclusive educational environment, as well as exchange of experience on the implementation of successful partnership practices in inclusive practice.

The event was organized by the Department of Psychology and Correctional pedagogy and the Center for continuous and inclusive education "Dana bala" with the support of Russian cooperation in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

The conference was attended by teachers of general education schools, parents of children with special educational needs, scientists, teachers of higher educational institutions, specialists in inclusive education, students, representatives of social society.

To date, mutually beneficial cooperation agreements have been concluded in the field of academic mobility of students and teaching staff with the following foreign universities and higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan: Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, Armavir State Pedagogical Academy. The instrument of these agreements is the activity between partner higher education institutions to ensure the academic mobility of students, undergraduates and doctoral students in the field of science and education.

The Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy accepts students and teachers for exchange training within the framework of academic mobility. Academic mobility at the department is realized through the implementation of the following mechanisms: Travel abroad according to the educational programs of students for the purpose of theoretical and practical training (Russia, Poland, South Korea); Organization of internships for teaching staff in other higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad (Lacuila University, San Salvador Hospital University, Italy, Portugal, Moscow, St. Petersburg) in order to expand academic exchange.

As part of the academic mobility program, Irina Konstantinovna Matskevich, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, visited Shakarim University in Semey, where she conducted the course "Fundamentals of Psychological Counseling and Psychocorrection" for students of the educational programs "Psychology" and "Pedagogy and Psychology".

Methodical work of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy is carried out on the basis of the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 29, 2007 No. 583 "Rules for the organization and implementation of educational and methodological and scientific-methodical work in organizations of higher and (or) postgraduate education, except for educational organizations in the field of culture" (with amendments and additions dated 08.06.2023, order No. 263) and is carried out according to the approved plan.

The purpose of the methodological work is to provide the educational process with educational documents and pedagogical developments that contribute to the development of student-centered teaching, learning and evaluation.

It includes:

- development of educational documents (educational programs, curricula and programs);

- development of an educational and methodological complex of disciplines with providing students with access to digital content on the educational portal of the Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University https://edu.vku.edu.kz/

- presentations as speakers at methodological seminars at the republican and regional levels;

- publications of scientific and methodological articles in international, republican collections of conferences, round tables and seminars;

- conducting open classes and mutual visits by teachers of the department;

- introduction of new and improvement of existing methods and methods, teaching strategies, tools and means of the educational process, including "inverted classroom", "interactive guided discussions", "brainstorming", communicative and case technologies, adaptive educational technologies within inclusive education.

The methodical seminar of the department operates on an ongoing basis. At which the possibilities of using innovative teaching methods, the specifics of the student-oriented approach, methodological support of the department, educational resources and Internet programs, improving the efficiency and quality of the educational process are discussed.

As part of the professional development, teachers of the department undergo scientific internships and training seminars. Among those passed recently are "Microqualifications in the higher education system: concept, methodology and principles", "Education of the future, which has already come: a workshop for teachers on the use of ChatGPT and neural networks"; "Strengthening the potential of pedagogical education, coordinated by Hame University of Applied Sciences, Finland.

The educational process uses the laboratory base of the DanaBala Center for Continuous and Inclusive Education: sensory integration and correction laboratories, psychological counseling laboratories, Logolab laboratories, hardware psychodiagnostics and psychocorrection laboratories, STEAM laboratories, Gifted Children laboratories. The laboratories of the center are a platform for practice-oriented classes, psychological trainings, counseling, research activities. Laboratories allow organizing methodological assistance to teachers who work in an inclusive environment. On a permanent basis, joint methodological events are held with the Regional Psychological, Medical and Pedagogical Commission, the leading role in which is assigned to the senior lecturer of the department, Master of Special Pedagogy R. Baichinov. The methodological orientation of the activity on the basis of laboratories is facilitated by modern specialized equipment: a speech therapy simulator "Delfa", an audiometric module, a contact polygraph, a graphic editor "MasterGraf", an apparatus for conducting audio training using the Tomatis method, an SPSS statistics program, an EEG (electroencephalograph), a biofeedback system, a set of computer psychodiagnostic techniques. 12.01.2024  The seminar “Adaptive learning technologies in the context of the concept of active learning” was held at EKU, organized by the staff of the department for organization of educational and methodological work.

During the seminar the university professors, Dr. Irina Matskevich and Svitlana Stelmakh presented adaptive teaching methods.

26.01.2024  As part of the World Bank project "Modernization of Secondary Education," national trainers Svetlana Stelmach and Irina Matskevich conducted training from January 5 to 26 for more than sixty teachers of EKU, focusing on the transfer of best practices from Finnish universities HAMK and JAMK in organizing the educational process.

01.04.2024 On the basis of  S. Amanzholov EKU regional scientific and methodological round table on the topic “Inclusion and RAS (autism spectrum disorder): Realities and Opportunities”. The event was timed to the cycle of events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology” in EKU.

In the round table meeting was attended by representatives of the akimat of East Kazakhstan region, public organizations, scientists, teachers, faculty and students, specialists working in the system of inclusive education, as well as guests from other regions of Kazakhstan in online mode.

5.06.2024 12 teachers of the department took refresher courses in Pavlodar. The topic of training was “Model of inclusive education”. The courses were organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of RK with the support of SAVVY BUSINESS.

8.06.2024, Amanzholov University hosted an off-site joint meeting of the Educational and Methodological Association in the fields of "Special Pedagogy" and "Healthcare" on the topic: "Inclusive Education: Innovative Approaches and Challenges." During the meeting, innovative educational programs implemented by the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy were presented — "Ergopedagogy" and "Early Support Pedagogy."

13.06.2024 A training seminar was held on the topic "Syllabus development within the framework of the secondary education modernization program". A lecture on the topic "Syllabus development" was given by Professor Svetlana Stelmakh of the department.

30.09.2024 In order to share experiences and strengthen partnership in the field of special education, Yulia Kukina and Kymbat Kanapiyanova participated in a workshop on "The role of external relations in solving internal problems of boarding schools" at the special boarding school No. 1 of the Department of Education of the East Kazakhstan region.

11.21.2024, The university continues to hold events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology”. This time specialists of the Department of Pedagogy and Correctional Psychology organized a series of interactive master classes.

19.12.2024  In honor of the 20th anniversary of the opening of the specialty “Defectology” in S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, a regional Olympiad on “Special Pedagogy” was held.

According to the results of the competition, the Grand Prix was won by Dilnaz Imangazina, a student of secondary school No. 9 in Altai, who received a university grant for the educational program “Special Pedagogy”. 

23.12.2024 At the Department of “Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy” of East Kazakhstan University a lecture of the guest speaker Aikun Ayanbaeva was held for students of Special Pedagogy on the topic “Gesture and dactyl speech”. The lecture lasted 6 hours. Also the lecturer took part in the intra-university event “Guest of the lecture”.

13.01.2025  Specialists in the field of psychology and pedagogy at the S. Amanzholov Moscow State University have developed an author's advanced training course for teachers and psychologists. The training is aimed at preventing violence, bullying and suicide among underage children. The course program has been coordinated with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. One of the authors of the project is teachers of the department Yulia Kukina and Kimbat Kanapiyanova.

14.01.2025 Within the framework of the Winter School of “Academic Innovations” in S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University there was a training seminar for teachers of pedagogical specialties on “Methodological aspects of training future teachers for inclusive education”.

The speaker was Irina Matskevich, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, who shared with the participants her experience in the field of inclusive education. 

29.01.2025 Teacher Esimkhanova D.M. took part in a roundtable discussion on “Suicide Prevention”, which was held in the institution № 73 of the Penitentiary System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The representative of East Kazakhstan University made a report “Primary signs of suicidal behavior”, which highlighted the key markers and methods of early detection of crisis states.

19.02.2025 Senior inspector-psychologist of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Captain of Justice Moldir Kabibieva and psychologist Milena Donetskaya conducted a guest seminar on the discipline "Legal Psychology".

20.02.2025  A practical seminar for principals and psychologists of 25 target schools on “Emergency support and stabilization of a teacher in conditions of chronic failures” was held on the basis of the East Kazakhstan Regional Department of Education in cooperation with the Regional Scientific and Methodological Center of Information Technologies in Education “Orken” and a branch of the Republican Scientific and Pedagogical Center “Orleu”.

The seminar was attended by Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Yulia E. Kukina and Master of Psychology K. D. Kanapianova. Yulia Yevgenyevna gave a lecture on stress resistance of teachers, as well as a practical lesson on methods of stress management.

21.02.2025 In order to implement the 17th UN Sustainable Development Goal, the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy cooperates with partner organizations on an ongoing basis. One example is the students' industrial practice. For example, Elina Egorova, a 4th-year student of Psychology, is undergoing an internship at KSU Secondary School No. 12 in Ridder. The practice is aimed at fostering a stable interest and positive attitude towards the profession of a psychologist, gaining professional skills and practical experience.

26.02.2025 East Kazakhstan University staff held a practical seminar on “Professional stress of a teacher in the conditions of modern inclusive pedagogical system” at Verkh-Uba comprehensive secondary school. The event was attended by 30 teachers of the school.

31.03. 2025 Within the framework of spring vacation school a number of events were held in educational organizations of East Kazakhstan region. In particular, in the block “Unified methodical day” for teacher-psychologists of the region there was held a workshop “Psychological and pedagogical support of parents of students with special educational needs ‘Towards each other’. Teachers of the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy of East Kazakhstan University Y.E.Kukina and K.D.Kanapiyanova were invited to the event.

02.04.2025 Nazerke Kystaubayeva, a speech therapist teacher at the PMPC of the East Kazakhstan Region, an expert, and a Master of Social Knowledge, gave a guest lecture on "Providing speech therapy to children with speech disorders in preschool institutions."

02.04.2025 Students of the department, as part of the celebration of the day of dissemination of information about the problem of autism, took to the streets of the city and informed residents about autism spectrum disorders. The students distributed information booklets and explained the importance of developing an inclusive society.

03.04.2025 Aigerim Kairatova, a defectologist at the NGO "PMPC" in East Kazakhstan Region, gave a guest lecture on the topic "The role of a defectologist in creating and implementing individual educational programs for children with special educational needs."

07.042025 Indira Zhunusova, a speech therapist at PMPC East Kazakhstan Region, gave a guest lecture on "effective ways to develop speech in children with cochlear implants."

07.04.2025 Gulnur Moldakasymova, an expert teacher at PMPC in East Kazakhstan Region, gave a guest lecture on the role of an assistant teacher in the process of psychological and pedagogical support for children with special educational needs.

09.04.2025 Asem Nasikova, a teacher-psychologist at the PMPC of the East Kazakhstan Region, conducted a guest lecture for future psychologists on the topic "Behavior of children with autism spectrum disorders and assessment of their educational opportunities."

11.04.2025 Yulia Kukina made a presentation on the topic "The role of parents in the prevention of bullying at school" at the republican parent forum "Five steps to perfection", organized at the Higher School of Economics.

16.04.2025 Within the framework of the republican press tour “Education without Barriers” the representatives of mass media visited the practice centers, which are long-term partners of the university. The journalists got acquainted with the activities and material and technical equipment of the private rehabilitation and correction center “DEMEY” and the state boarding school “Ak Niyet”.

18.04.2025 An international scientific and methodological round table on the topic "Interaction with parents as a basis for psychological and pedagogical support for children with special educational needs" was held at the Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.

The event was organized by the Department of Psychology and Correctional Pedagogy in cooperation with the Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education "Dana bala" with the support of the Russian House in Ust-Kamenogorsk. It became a part of the annual forum "Time of Good Deeds", implemented in cooperation with Russian and Kazakh partners.
