ALMOST FIFTY SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED AT AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY

As part of his working trip to East Kazakhstan region Sayasat Nurbek familiarized himself with the infrastructure and scientific developments of scientists of Amanzholov University. The Minister visited modern research laboratories “Surface Engineering and Tribology” and “National Scientific Laboratory of Collective Use”. For many years scientists of the region have been making discoveries and working on promising projects in these laboratories.

It should be noted that today Amanzholov University implements 41 projects in the field of mechanical engineering, materials science, energy, biotechnology, ecology and humanitarian sphere. University researchers actively cooperate with 150 largest industrial enterprises and scientific centers of the country: “KAZZINC” LLP, “Ulba Metallurgical Plant”, “TMK” JSC, “KAZminerals”, “National Nuclear Center of Kazakhstan”, VNIItsvetmet and others.

In addition, the head of the department noted the worthy material and technical base of scientific centers and talked to the scientists of the university. Thus, the innovator Telek Kuanyshbekov presented the project “Production of composite filtering materials for the purification of water bodies”, aimed at solving the urgent world problem – poor quality of fresh water.

According to the Head of State Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, by 2050 Kazakhstan may enter the category of countries with acute water deficit. Already now more than 600 thousand people in the country need clean drinking water.

-To solve this problem, we plan to establish production of filtering composite sorbents based on biopolymers, ceramic materials, carbon materials modified with graphite oxide with assembly into cartridges, as well as the manufacture of enclosures on the basis of the university. Our final product can be adapted in large enterprises and residential buildings. The scientific community of the university thanks the President and the Ministry for their active support of scientists,” said Tlek Kuanyshbekov.

Scientist Almasbek Maulit demonstrated a portal that is a digital analog of an agronomist with 30 years of experience. The scientists’ development involves a smart drone with a multispectral camera that helps predict sowing dates, yields and the amount of fertiliser needed. The university team also decided to use artificial intelligence to fight weeds. During remote shooting, the camera recognizes different types of plants, including weeds. Later, when reading photos from other fields, the program will automatically indicate if there are weeds and where they are located.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Sayasat Nurbek noted the large contingent of the university with 10,000 students from different regions of Kazakhstan. Also expressed gratitude to scientists for their contribution to the scientific life of Kazakhstan. Talked with volunteer teachers from Turkey, patriotic cadets of the Military Department and athletes-prize-winners of international sports competitions.
