TAMARA DUISENOVA: “DANA BALA” DEVELOPS INCLUSION AT THE INTERSECTION OF SCIENCE, MEDICINE AND EDUCATION

During her working trip to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Deputy Prime Minister of RK Tamara Duisenova familiarized herself with the Center for Continuing and Inclusive Education “Dana bala”, which is opened in 2022 on the basis of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. Unique for the region, the facility is aimed at practice-oriented training of specialists to work with students with children with disabilities, who visit the center with parents to receive educational services.

Tamara Kasymovna was presented the possibilities of the laboratories of hardware psychodiagnostics and psychocorrection, sensory integration and correction, STEAM and speech therapy room. Each of these spaces is aimed at effective correction of special children from different aspects.

-Today Kazakhstan needs effective development of inclusion. It is commendable that S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is solving this global problem at the intersection of education, science and medicine. This is a smart tactic,” said Tamara Duisenova.

-Multidisciplinary approach in the organization of work of the center and effective relationship with science allow teachers of defectology, psychology, specialists in adaptive physical culture together with students to experimentally develop new methods, obtain copyright certificates and patents, – said the rector of the university Mukhtar Tolegen.

Deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to the author’s developments of the university staff: methodological manuals, professional table of speech therapist-defectologist, verticalizer, specialized desks, tables and chairs. She positively assessed the activity of the center, noting that it is an invaluable experience for future specialists working with special children.

The alma mater’s contribution to the development of inclusive education does not end here. The only university in the region, specializing in training for an inclusive environment implements innovative educational programs “Pedagogy of early support” and “Ergopedagogy”. Associate Professor Svetlana Stelmakh told about it to the representative of the Government.

– Pedagogies of early support form the competencies of a specialist in assessing early developmental features and designing rehabilitation. There is a statistic that at birth only 2% of children with various deviations are detected, but by the age of 8-9 years the number of such children increases to 10%. This means that 8% of children were undiagnosed and did not receive early support,” said the professor.

The second not less demanded specialty – “Ergopedagogy” is aimed at working with children diagnosed with cerebral palsy and other locomotor disorders. Graduates will be engaged in the development and maintenance of programs for the development of meaningful activity of a child with special developmental needs.

It should be noted that today the second stream of teachers of the new level is being trained at East Kazakhstan University.
