YOUNG SCIENTISTS OF EKU TOOK THE GRAND PRIZE IN THE REGIONAL EXHIBITION OF IT-PROJECTS JASTAR TIME

On the site of the Kazhymukan Wrestling Palace, schoolchildren and students of the region presented author’s developments in the digital sphere.

During the large-scale event, participants and their mentors presented more than 90 projects in four sectors: MAKER FEST, JUNIOR SKILLS, ROBOTIME and SLUSTER PRO.

The last sector involves an opportunity to look at innovative devices and technologies of college and university students. Thus, EKU has prepared two scientific projects for their presentation to independent experts: a digital platform for learning languages Oqimyn-til and an automated information system with a device for monitoring water bodies.

-Our Oqimyn-til website teaches the correct pronunciation of text in the state language. In Google-translator, for example, there is no function of pronunciation in Kazakh. We decided to correct this shortcoming. In addition, the site has many author’s courses and assignments designed for independent and group work. I would like to note that the platform is already fully available for use https://oqimyn-til.choices.kz/, – said a participant of the project, a student of the Information Systems Department Aruzhan Razhapova.

The second development is aimed at solving an urgent issue – flood prevention in the country.

According to young scientist Rustem Zhumabek, he and his team have developed an intelligent online sensor for minute-by-minute measurement of physical and chemical indicators of water. Such comprehensive information allows for a more objective judgment of the quantity and quality of water resources. This, in turn, will have an impact on flood prevention.

It should be noted that the head of the projects is the dean of the Higher School of IT and Natural Sciences Saltanat Adikanova, and the technical consultant is Senor Lecturer of the Department of Computer Modeling and Information Technology EKU Bakhytzhan Kopzhasarov.

At the end of the event there was a solemn awarding ceremony for the winners of various nominations. According to the results of the exhibition, the project “Oqimyn-til” became the best among the competitive works. Students Aruzhan Razhapova and Rustem Zhumabek were awarded a diploma for the best IT-project and a gift certificate.
