STUDENTS OF AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY INVENTED A GAUGING STATION TO PREVENT FLOODS

An intelligent online hydropost for continuous measurement of physical and chemical water parameters allows for a more objective judgement of the quantity and quality of water resources. In real time, it monitors the rise and fall of water levels, determines temperature, transparency and velocity. Such information will have an impact on flood prevention.

-Manual monitoring is a common practice in Kazakhstan today. Every day in the morning and evening, a specialist approaches a water body and records data. But such information is scarce for transparent and accurate reporting. This can affect our preparedness for the flood season,” explained EKU student Rustem Zhumabek.

The team of young developers is studying in the Information Systems educational programme. Rustem, Yerali Serzhanuly and Dias Sagadiev are convinced that their project answers the demand for a solution to a pressing problem.

-The development itself consists of several components. It includes a sensor, an autonomous power source, a control unit, a microcomputer and a data converter,” Dias said.

Note that the project manager is Saltanat Adikanova, dean of the Graduate School of IT and Natural Sciences, and the technical adviser is Senor Lecturer of the EKU Department of Computer Modelling and Information Technology Bakhytzhan Kopzhasarov.
