PROFESSOR FROM GERMANY: “SUCH MONUMENTS ARE RARE NOT ONLY IN KAZAKHSTAN, BUT ALSO IN THE WHOLE WORLD”

Professor Johannes Rekel of Georg August University of Göttingen, Professor Zadash Dukenbaeva of L.N. Gumilev ENU and representatives of the Department of History of Amanzholov University visited the historical and archaeological complex Akbauyr, located at the foot of Korjinbai Mountain.

The participants of the expedition familiarized themselves with the unique territory of the tract and saw many archaeological monuments belonging to different epochs. Among them are a grotto with rock paintings made with red ochre, mounds with “mustaches”, an astronomical laboratory with granite slabs and a ritual site with petroglyphs. In total, the site features about 80 elements that belong to the period of transition from the Chalcolithic to the Bronze Age.

-I am glad to see a monument left from the early Iron Age. They are rare not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the whole world. I thank the rector of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University for the invitation to the university,” said Johannes Reckel.

According to the professor, the results of the expedition will be an important part of his work.
